Where to steal the Riverbank map near Svartby City, where to dig, and which legendary greatsword the chest holds.

Bandit’s Treasure Map: Riverbank is one of the treasure hunt activities in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and it is one of the more generous ones. The map itself is sitting in a bandit campsite south of Svartby City, and the chest it points to holds a legendary greatsword. The whole run takes two short trips and no boss fight.

Quick answer: Steal Treasure Map: Riverbank from the barrel beside the tent at the campsite south of Svartby City, then travel to the riverbank west of the city, interact with the dirt mound, and pick “Dig Out the Treasure” to open the chest containing The Kingslayer.

Where to find the Treasure Map: Riverbank

The activity does not appear in your journal until you physically have the map in your inventory, so the campsite is the real starting point. Nothing here is gated behind a story beat, and you can pick it up while you are already running the main quest chain around the city.

Open the map and travel to the bandit campsite south of Svartby City. Drop a custom marker on the camp if you want a clean waypoint, since the route cuts through wooded ground with no road to follow.

Walk to the tent inside the camp and look at the barrel next to it. The prompt reads “Steal Treasure Map: Riverbank” — take it, and the Bandit’s Treasure Map: Riverbank activity opens with the objective “Search for the treasure.”

Where to dig up the Riverbank treasure

The map drawing points at a stretch of river, not at a named landmark, which is why the objective marker lands on a wide search area rather than a precise spot. The dig site is west of Svartby City, on the near bank of the river.

Open the map and check your Current Position against the city, then set a custom marker on the riverbank due west of Svartby City. Lining the two up on the map first saves you from wandering the bank in the dark.

Head west out of the city and follow the marker down to the water. The approach runs through flooded, low-lying forest, so expect shallow water and thick trees rather than a clear path.

Find the mound of loose dirt on the bank, next to the rocks, and interact with it to select “Dig Out the Treasure.” The objective updates from “Search for the treasure” the moment the game accepts the dig spot.

Note: digging is what consumes time here, not the travel. If you are budgeting your days around other objectives near the city, do the dig on the same trip rather than coming back later.

Riverbank chest rewards and quest XP

The chest under the mound is a single Loot prompt that hands over everything at once. The greatsword is the reason to make the trip; the rest is cash, a ring, and a couple of consumables.

The Kingslayer is a two-handed weapon, so it only pays off if you are already leaning on greatsword skills. If you are not, it is still worth digging up for the ring and the coin.

How to confirm the quest is finished

You get a clear signal. Once you close the loot window, a “QUEST ENDED” banner appears along with the 14 XP award, and Bandit’s Treasure Map: Riverbank drops off your tracked objectives. If the activity is still sitting in your journal, you closed the chest without taking anything.

Two things stop the quest from progressing. If the dig option never appears, you are standing on ordinary ground rather than the loose dirt mound — move along the bank until the interact prompt changes. And if the activity never started at all, you left the campsite without the map itself; the treasure site does nothing until Treasure Map: Riverbank is in your inventory.

Because the map and the dig site sit on opposite sides of Svartby City, this pairs neatly with anything else you have queued around the city — the Echoes of Silenced Bells thread and the trip to meet Anca at the old inn both start from the same area, so the detour costs very little beyond the dig itself.
