Every clue, the attic route, and the chest loot for the Curious House quest in Svartrau City.

Every clue, the attic route, and the chest loot for the Curious House quest in Svartrau City.

Faith and Punishment is one of the short investigation quests tied to the Curious House in Svartrau City. There is no NPC to talk to and no fight to win. You read a notice pinned to a door, find a way onto the roof, and piece together what happened to the person sealed inside the attic.

Quick answer: Read the Proclamation of Treason on the door of the Curious House in southern Svartrau City, climb the wooden scaffolding on the outside of the building to reach the attic, use Focus Mode to inspect the scratch marks, the mattress, the corpse, and the note on the floor, then loot the chest for Wolf Fangs and Broken Scissors to end the quest.

The Curious House is a single building that hosts several separate attic quests, including Enshrined Obsession, Working Her Magic, and Weaves of Rebellion. Faith and Punishment is the one triggered by the notice on the front door, so read the door first rather than heading straight for the roof.

How to start Faith and Punishment in Svartrau City

Open the map and find the Curious House marker in the southern part of Svartrau City. Fast travel to the nearest point and follow the yellow marker on the compass until you are standing at the building’s front door.

Interact with the note nailed to the door. It is titled PROCLAMATION OF TREASON and opens with “Near Ye, Near Ye,” naming Widow Zlatna as an enemy of the Knyaz. Reading it adds Faith and Punishment to your journal.

The proclamation also carries the name Krysa Brenis and refers to Old Zlatna, which is your only lead before you get inside. The front door itself stays shut, so the entrance is elsewhere on the building.

How to reach the attic

Walk around the outside of the house and look up. There is wooden scaffolding running up the exterior wall, and that framework is the intended route to the top floor.

Climb the beams and planks until you reach the opening at the top and drop inside. The objective updates to “Investigate the attic using Focus Mode” as soon as you are in the room.

All four Focus Mode clues in the attic

The attic is dark and cluttered, and the interactive objects are easy to walk past without Focus Mode active. On PC, Focus Mode is held with the right mouse button. Points of interest glow yellow while it is on.

Four clues need to be examined before the quest will close out.

ClueWhere it is
Scratch marksOn the attic wall
Dirty mattressThe bed set up on the floor
Starved corpseThe body of a woman in the room
NOTE FROM MOTHERLying on the floor near the body

The body itself needs a held interaction prompt rather than a quick tap, so keep the button pressed until the examination finishes.

The NOTE FROM MOTHER is the clue that ties the room together. It confirms the woman was shut in the attic and left to starve by her own mother as punishment for refusing to fall in line religiously and politically, which is what the treason notice downstairs was covering for.

Loot the chest and confirm the quest is complete

Once all four clues are examined, time rolls forward and the world shifts toward midnight. That time-passed notification is your signal that the investigation registered correctly.

Open the chest in the attic to collect Wolf Fangs and Broken Scissors. Faith and Punishment then closes in the journal, and you are free to climb back out.

Note: If the quest will not finish, it is almost always because one of the four Focus Mode objects was missed. Sweep the room again with Focus Mode held down and check the wall behind the mattress, since the scratch marks are the easiest clue to overlook in the dark.

With the attic cleared, the same building still has its other Curious House entries waiting, so it is worth returning to Svartrau City at different points in the day and night to see which of them are available to you.
