Corruption is the second progression track in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and it gates almost everything worth having in the Vampirism tree. Skill points alone will not unlock those nodes, and the meter only moves when Coen drinks blood at night. The fastest way to move it is not hunting one animal at a time, but looping a single pack of aggressive animals with the Overfeed buff active.
Quick answer: Unlock Hastened Corruption rank 2, then at night find a pack of wild boars or wolves. Use Voracious Bite on an unaware animal to trigger Overfeed, bite a second animal once combat starts, run away until the pack de-aggros, and repeat without killing them.
What you need before farming Corruption
Three things have to be true before the loop works. Coen must be in vampire form, which means night. He needs Voracious Bite, the starting vampire ability granted at the end of the prologue. And he needs at least one Activation Charge available, because using the bite as an active ability during combat costs one charge and puts it on a 30-second cooldown.
Corruption is displayed as a small numbered icon beside the health bar at night. It rises from drinking blood whether or not Coen is hurt, so there is no reason to save feeding for emergencies if you are building toward a Vampirism build.

Add to Google Preferences →Hastened Corruption ranks and the Overfeed buff
Hastened Corruption sits in the Vampirism tree and is the only perk that directly speeds up the meter. Rank 2 is the one that matters for farming, because it adds the Overfeed state. Drinking blood while vampiric health is already full grants a temporary extra health segment and raises Corruption filling speed by 50% for as long as Overfed is active.

| Rank | Requirement and cost | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Corruption 1, 1 skill point | +30% Corruption filling speed. |
| 2 | Corruption 4, 1 skill point | Drinking blood at full health triggers Overfeed: temporary health segment and +50% Corruption filling speed while Overfed. |
| 3 | Corruption 6, 2 skill points | +50% Corruption filling speed and +5% vampiric health per Corruption level. |
Each rank also consumes a training time segment, so plan the investment around the 30-day clock. Taking rank 1 early is worth it even before you can afford rank 2, since every later level becomes cheaper in real time.
The boar and wolf loop: bite, bite, retreat
The trick is that hostile pack animals can be bitten twice per cycle and then reset. As long as none of them die, the same group can be farmed indefinitely. A pack of four wild boars fills roughly half a Corruption level.

Note: Overfeed only re-applies when you bite at full vampiric health. If the pack has chipped your health down, the next stealth bite heals you instead of granting the buff, and the following one restores it.
Blood sources ranked by Corruption gained
Not all blood is equal. Target size and type decide how much of the meter a single feed is worth, which is why small critters are a poor use of time even though they are free.
| Blood source | Corruption value |
|---|---|
| Rabbits, mice, rats | Lowest; only worth taking if one is on your route. |
| Deer, wolves, boars | Noticeably higher, and deer cannot fight back. |
| Humans | Higher than large animals; a full drain during a night dialogue gives a large chunk. |
| Vials of Human or Animal Blood | Same as feeding, drinkable only at night in vampire form. |
| Vrakhiri blood | Highest; a vial grants a full Corruption level instantly. |
Vials of Vrakhiri Blood come from main story content involving Brencis and his boyars, so they cannot be farmed. Ordinary vials drop from killed animals and humans, and they are also your best emergency heal at night, so only drink the surplus.
When no pack is nearby: deer and night camps
Deer are the safe fallback. They give more blood than small wildlife, cannot retaliate, and respawn endlessly in forest zones, which you can pick out on the map. Roughly five to seven minutes of hunting is enough to gain a Corruption level, before counting the Vials of Animal Blood looted from the corpses. The Briar Sloughs forest southwest of Leslea Glen and the Boar’s Back woods are reliable spots.
Clearing hostile camps after dark is the other efficient option, since it stacks Corruption with combat XP, loot, and vials pulled off the bodies afterwards. It is slower per bite than the pack loop, but nothing about it is wasted time.
How to confirm Corruption went up
The numbered Corruption icon next to the health bar ticks up as the meter fills, and the game posts a notification when a new level opens vampire powers. Open the Vampirism tree at that point to see which nodes are no longer locked.
Reaching the required Corruption level only removes that one gate. Learning the perk still costs skill points and training time, so a newly unlocked node will stay greyed out if you are short on either.
Why the loop stops paying out
- It is daytime. Coen is human, Voracious Bite is unavailable, and blood vials cannot be consumed.
- The pack is dead. Killing the animals removes the targets you were resetting, so pull damage back and let them live.
- No Activation Charges left. The in-combat bite needs one charge and has a 30-second cooldown between uses.
- You never broke combat. If the animals stay alerted, the stealth opening that triggers Overfeed does not come back.
- You drank a blood-flavoured brew instead of blood. A consumable only counts toward Corruption if it restores vampiric health; a temporary combat buff does not.
Skipping blood entirely is a legitimate way to play, but it locks off the upper half of the Vampirism tree, and several bosses have to be fought at night. If you intend to lean into the vampire side at all, get Hastened Corruption to rank 2 as early as the skill points allow and let a single boar pack carry you through the first few levels.
