The Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Climb the Neustadt Tower in Svartrau City

Everything the Neustadt Tower scouting run needs, from the West Gate rooftops to the landmarks Coen marks on your map.

Everything the Neustadt Tower scouting run needs, from the West Gate rooftops to the landmarks Coen marks on your map.

The Neustadt Tower is the first of three Scouting Towers inside Svartrau City, and it is the one most players bounce off because the approach is not a climb in the usual sense. There is no ladder and no scaffolding at the base. You get up there by chaining vampire teleports across a stretch of rooftops in the southwestern corner of the city, starting from the ground near the West Gate.

Quick answer: At night, stand beside the West Gate in Svartrau City, Shadowstep onto the stone wall next to it, hop across the rooftops using chimneys and roof peaks as anchors, then Shadowstep to the tower spire and hold the “Scout the area” prompt to trigger the survey cutscene.

Requirements before you attempt the Neustadt Tower

Scouting Towers are night-only content. The map marks them with a tower icon paired with a moon symbol, and that moon is a hard gate — during the day Coen simply cannot make the jumps, because the Vrakhir traversal skills are offline. You can walk to the tower’s base in daylight, but nothing will happen there.

Two skills carry the whole route. Shadowstep is the teleport — you hold the button, aim at a wall, ledge or beam, and release to pull yourself to it. Planeshift lets Coen walk on flat vertical surfaces, and it burns stamina the entire time it is active. For the Neustadt run you mostly need Shadowstep, with Planeshift as a backup if you overshoot onto a blank wall.

Note: Scouting Towers do not advance the in-game clock. Climbing them costs you nothing from your time budget, which is why it is worth clearing every tower you can reach in a single night rather than spreading them out.

Route to the top of the Neustadt Tower from the West Gate

Open the world map and place your marker on the Neustadt Tower icon, then travel to the West Gate in the southwestern part of Svartrau City. The route starts on the ground outside the battlements, not inside the district itself.
Position Coen against the stone wall beside the gate and aim Shadowstep at the top of the battlements. Do this quickly — you are trespassing here, and lingering on the walls in view of the city guards will turn them hostile before you have gained any height.

From the battlements, Shadowstep onto the nearest rooftop and keep moving inward. Chimneys, gable peaks and the edges of steep tiled roofs all work as valid anchor points, so line up short hops rather than trying to cover the whole distance at once.

Once the tower is in front of you, aim Shadowstep at the very top of the spire rather than the body of the tower. The game will pull Coen all the way up in one move, so there is no need to work your way around the structure.
When the “Scout the area” prompt appears, press it. You do not have to be perfectly placed on the summit for this to fire — the prompt shows up as soon as you are close enough, and activating it moves Coen into position automatically.

Landmarks Coen identifies during the scouting sequence

The survey is not a passive cutscene. You sweep the camera across the skyline and press the investigate prompt on each white marker, and Coen comments on what he is looking at. There are five points to tag from the Neustadt Tower, and you need all of them before the objective closes out.

LandmarkWhat Coen says about it
GewandhausplatzThe heart of commerce in the city
Svartrau CathedralDwarfs everything around it
SilbersteinA district visible from the spire
GreifbergThe keep that looms over the city

How to confirm the scouting objective is complete

Three things happen the moment the last landmark is tagged. Coen drops out of the survey view, a 22 XP reward pops on screen, and the world map fills in with fresh question mark icons covering activities and points of interest around the district. The scouting also reveals any nearby Scouting Towers you have not climbed yet, so the Market and Cathedral towers become easier to line up afterwards.

If the map looks unchanged when you check it, you missed a marker during the survey. Return to the summit and run the prompt again — partial scouting does not lock you out.

Common reasons the Neustadt Tower climb fails

  • You are attempting it during the day, so the traversal skills are unavailable and the tower cannot be climbed at all.
  • Stamina drains out mid-Planeshift on a wall, which drops Coen off the surface. If you find yourself stuck vertically, stop moving so the meter stops draining, then Shadowstep to a solid ledge.
  • Guards spot you on the battlements before you clear the wall. Get onto the rooftops quickly instead of walking along the parapet.
  • You aimed Shadowstep at the tower body rather than the spire, landing on a surface with nothing to chain from.

Getting back down from the tower

Fall damage still applies, and there is no haystack waiting below. Walk to the edge, check that the drop is clear of obstacles and guards, then hold Clawride and keep holding it until Coen reaches the ground — it slides him down walls without eating stamina. Shadowstepping back down the way you came works too, it is just slower.

Neustadt is one of eleven Scouting Towers across Vale Sangora, and unlike the rural ones it has no chest or skill manual attached to it. The payoff is purely the map reveal, which is the reason to knock it out early rather than late. With the clock frozen while you climb, the two remaining city towers are a reasonable follow-up in the same night.
