The Blood of Dawnwalker Sanzhani Guide: Every Letters to Lunka Location

All five Sanzhani spots, the quests they start, and the extra day of time they hand back to Coen.

All five Sanzhani spots, the quests they start, and the extra day of time they hand back to Coen.

The Sanzhani are the small moth fairies scattered across Vale Sangora, and they are the only characters in The Blood of Dawnwalker who can give Coen back something the 30-day clock normally refuses to return. Each one lets him send a letter to Lunka, either to learn more about the situation she is being held in or simply to tell her that things will be alright. Find all five and the payoff is unique in the game.

Quick answer: Complete all five Sanzhani quests — Good Home, Pearly and Precious, Tiny Dancer, Come Hither and Burrow Sorrows — to earn the The Tsarina’s Favorite Human achievement and gain +1 extra day before Brencis’ coronation.

Why the Sanzhani are worth the detour

Time in The Blood of Dawnwalker works like a currency. Dialogue choices, quest steps and skill unlocks all spend it, and once it is gone it is gone. The Sanzhani are the exception. Finishing the whole chain literally shifts the calendar and buys Coen an extra day before the coronation, which is not something you can get from any other side content.

These creatures live underground and are not fond of humans to begin with. Each one hands Coen a small task first, and clearing that task is what earns enough trust for the letter to Lunka. Set aside a decent chunk of playtime before you commit — the full set of five is spread across opposite ends of the map, and the individual quests are not one-and-done interactions.

All five Sanzhani locations at a look

QuestWhere it starts
Good HomeCenter of Svartrau Outskirts, east of Sandy Gorge Shrine toward the ravine
Pearly and PreciousSouth of Briar Sloughs, across the river from Small Bridge Shrine
Tiny DancerCenter of Svartrau City, south of Altenmarkt and west of The Cathedral Complex
Come HitherEast of Silty Mug Inn Shrine, in The Silts
Burrow SorrowsRockfalls, south of Giant’s Pawns Shrine and just before Boarback Trail Shrine

Note: several of these shrines may still be listed as a Destroyed Shrine on your map depending on how far along you are. They work as map anchors either way.

Finding each Sanzhani

Good Home (Svartrau Outskirts)

Fast travel to the Sandy Gorge Shrine and head east in the direction of the ravine. You are looking for a ring of glowing mushrooms on the ground. Interact with it and the Good Home quest begins immediately, no other prompt required.

Pearly and Precious (Briar Sloughs)

Travel to the Small Bridge Shrine in the southern part of Briar Sloughs, then cross the river. On the far bank you will find an abandoned camp. Switch on Focus Mode and follow the highlighted trail from there until it leads you to the Sanzhana.

Tiny Dancer (Svartrau City)

Walk into the middle of the Altenmarkt in Svartrau City and you will hear the Sanzhani before you see it, which triggers the quest. The fairy itself is not at street level. Climb up to the balcony and go inside the house to reach it.

Come Hither (The Silts)

From the Silty Mug Inn, follow the road east. Keep going until you spot two large leafless trees standing to the north, past a stretch of ground with a small bridge running through it. Head over to those trees to find this Sanzhani.

Burrow Sorrows (Rockfalls)

Make your way to the northern part of the Rockfalls region and use the Boarback Trail Shrine as your starting point. From there, push north into the woods. The last Sanzhana is hidden somewhere among the trees, so sweep the area rather than beelining in one direction.

How to confirm the chain is finished

Each Sanzhani you satisfy closes out its own named quest and lets Coen send off a letter to Lunka. The overarching Letters to Lunka entry in your journal is what tracks your progress, so check it if you are unsure how many you have left.

You will know the set is complete when The Tsarina’s Favorite Human achievement pops and the extra day is added ahead of Brencis’ coronation. If the achievement has not appeared, one of the five quests is still open — usually Pearly and Precious or Burrow Sorrows, since both require searching an area rather than interacting with an obvious object.

Because time is the scarcest resource in the game, the smart play is to fold these five stops into routes you are already taking. Good Home and Tiny Dancer sit close to Svartrau, Come Hither is a short ride out of the Silty Mug Inn, and Burrow Sorrows only makes sense once you are already working through Rockfalls. Handle them opportunistically and the extra day arrives as a bonus rather than a detour you had to pay for.
