The Stagnant Oasis Walkthrough in World of Warcraft

The Stagnant Oasis is a short Horde experiment quest in the Barrens that sends you underwater to test a batch of dead seeds. The whole task happens at a single pond, and the only real trick is finding the interactive object hidden on the lakebed.

Quick answer: Swim into the Stagnant Oasis south of the Crossroads, dive to the Bubbling Fissure on the bottom of the lake, right-click it to plant the Dried Seeds, then return to Tonga Runetotem to turn the quest in.

Where the Stagnant Oasis is located

In Northern Barrens, the Stagnant Oasis is a pond southwest of Ratchet and south of the Crossroads. Use your map to travel due south from the Crossroads until you reach the water; the objective marker is within the pond.

The interactive object you need, the Bubbling Fissure, is submerged near the center of the lake at roughly 55.6, 42.8 in the Barrens. If you use TomTom, you can drop a waypoint with the command below.

Plant the Dried Seeds in the Bubbling Fissure

You are given the Dried Seeds when you accept the quest, so there is nothing to collect first. The objective reads “Test the Dried Seeds: 0/1” until you interact with the fissure.

Swim out to the middle of the Stagnant Oasis and dive underwater toward the bottom of the lake.

Look for a mound on the lakebed that releases a steady stream of rising air bubbles. Mousing over it shows the name “Bubbling Fissure.”

Use a right-click on the Bubbling Fissure to cast “Plant Seeds”. Remain still until the cast is complete.

Watch your breath meter while you dive. Surface to refill it if needed, then return to the fissure to finish the cast.

Turn the quest in and confirm completion

When the channel ends, the tracker updates to “Test the Dried Seeds: 1/1” and an “Objective Complete” message appears. That is your confirmation the interaction worked.

Swim back to the surface and travel north to the Crossroads. Hand the quest in to Tonga Runetotem to close it out. You can also verify completion at any time by running the command below in chat.

A result of true confirms the quest is complete on that character. Turning it in unlocks the follow-up quest Altered Beings, continuing the oasis investigation storyline.
