The Stranger in the Snowfield is a short side quest in Norgan that opens up once you have pulled Amos out of the snow in The Truant Soldier. Amos wants to thank the person who kept him alive during the whiteout, and he asks you to carry that message across the Norgan Snowfield. The savior turns out to be a hooded merchant named Ser Aymond, and reuniting the two ends with him setting up shop beside Amos.
Quick answer: Hear Amos out at Northwall Campground, follow the search circle south-east into Frozen Ravine Hollow, clear the Bugaboos and speak to Aymond, then walk back to Amos. The quest pays 30,000 XP and 15,000 G.
Amos asks a favor at Northwall Campground and the quest reads “Track down Amos’s savior.”; in the Norgan Snowfield “You caught sight of a stranger in the snowfield.” appears at Frozen Ravine Hollow, where the merchant Aymond is found; back at the campground “Amos and Aymond thanked you for your aid.” pays “+30000 XP” and “15000 G”.
Requirement before the quest appears
You need to have finished The Truant Soldier, the quest where you rescue Amos after he is stranded in a blizzard. On our save Amos offered this favor several in-game days after that; the exact wait is not known. He stands in the cave of Northwall Campground holding a lantern, and he begins talking on his own the moment you step up to him. There is no Hail prompt to trigger and no dialogue choice to pick, so do not go hunting for a prompt to start or finish the quest.
From The Truant Soldier, the quest that has to be finished first: “You heard Amos calling for help.”.
Find Amos in the Northwall Campground cave and listen to his story. He says someone gave him a heatstone while he was freezing, and he would not have survived without it. He asks you to locate that person and deliver his thanks. His only clue is that they mentioned traveling between campsites to escape the cold, so they should be somewhere in the Norgan Snowfield. The banner “Track down Amos’s savior.” appears.
In the Norgan Snowfield, travel to the search zone shown on your map. It covers a circular area rather than one exact spot; its center is about 400 meters east and 300 meters south of the campground. Frozen Ravine Hollow, where the search ends, is at the circle’s north-west side.
A point marker only shows up after the next banner triggers, so do not expect a pinpoint target while you are still searching the circle.
Walk north-west from the middle of the circle. The banner “You caught sight of a stranger in the snowfield.” appears, the area name changes to Frozen Ravine Hollow, and the objective updates to “Go after the stranger.” with a point marker inside the hollow. A voice line plays as you approach, with Aymond shouting, “Not again! I’ve had enough of your ilk!”
Spotting the stranger changes the area name to Frozen Ravine Hollow and switches the objective to go after him.
Go into the small cave known as Frozen Ravine Hollow.
“Go after the stranger.” at the mouth of Frozen Ravine Hollow.
Aymond is waiting just inside, surrounded by Bugaboos. Take out all of them before trying to speak with him; he will only talk once they are gone. His conversation then begins automatically.
After the Bugaboos fall, Aymond opens with his thanks for the help.
Hear Aymond out. He thought he was alone out in the snow and asks if you are stranded too, then brightens up at the mention of a village. He came to Norgan on a sort of quest and got stuck, and he remembers the soldier he helped: “I found him in the midst of a whiteout, see, so I couldn’t point him the way. All I had to offer was a heatstone.” He says he will pay the lad a visit. He opens no shop here and offers no choice. The banner “You passed on Amos’s message to the merchant.” appears, and the objective becomes “Visit Amos at the campground.”
Aymond recognizes the stranded soldier and agrees to visit him once he hears Amos survived.
Return to Northwall Campground. The quest is not finished inside the hollow, so you must go back and visit Amos. Walk into the cave toward him and the final conversation starts by itself, with Aymond already standing beside him.
Head back into the Northwall Campground cave and walk toward Amos to trigger the reunion.
Reward and how you know it is done
Aymond greets you with “Look who ’tis! Our savior has arrived!” and Amos thanks you for tracking down Ser Aymond.

Aymond adds that you have given him not only his life but new customers as well, and Amos hands over a token of his gratitude. The screen then shows the banner “Amos and Aymond thanked you for your aid.”, followed by “+30000 XP” and “15000 G”, and finally “Completed: The Stranger in the Snowfield”. Seeing that completion line is your confirmation the quest is finished. No item line appears in the reward list.
The completed banner confirms the reunion is finished and the quest has paid out.
