In Skellige, Worthy of Trust is an optional side quest shaped by one decision. A man at the docks in Kaer Trolde Harbor asks Geralt to lend him money, but he is later exposed as a con artist. Your choice when you confront him determines whether you lose money, break even, or make a profit. The quest appears in your journal only after you resolve it.
Quick answer: Lend the man 150 Crowns, meet him again between Kaer Trolde Harbor and Crossroads, choose to let him go, then find him in Fyresdal a day later to collect 200 Crowns for a net gain of 70.

Start the quest at Kaer Trolde Harbor
The quest begins once you reach Skellige and dock at Kaer Trolde Harbor during the main questline. A Skelliger on the docks introduces himself as Johann Bohner and explains that his ship went down in the last storm, leaving him stranded with no way to get back to Novigrad.

Add to Google Preferences →Confront the swindler: your three choices
At the trading post, he is using a different identity and says he is a traveling juggler from occupied Temeria. Press him with questions until he admits he is a swindler. He pleads with you to keep the matter from the jarl and offers to return the loan along with interest. Three options then become available.
| Choice | Outcome |
|---|---|
| Let him go | Geralt warns him and receives 20 Crowns; he reappears later in Fyresdal |
| Turn him in to the jarl | He resists and you must kill him |
| Take care of him yourself | He resists and you must kill him |
Both aggressive options end the same way. The con man refuses to go quietly, so the quest objective becomes “Teach the cheat a lesson,” and you have to fight and kill him. Letting him go is the only path that keeps him alive and keeps his promise in play.

Let him go for the full 200-Crown payout in Fyresdal
Sparing the swindler is the most profitable choice. He hands over 20 Crowns on the spot, then travels on to the village of Fyresdal, which sits southeast of Fornhala and west of the Distillery.
Counting the 20 Crowns from the roadside meeting and the 200 in Fyresdal against your original 150-Crown loan, you come out 70 Crowns ahead. Completing the quest also awards 50 XP.

Killing the con man: what you recover
If you turn him in or deal with him yourself, the fight ends the quest immediately. Loot his body afterward to recover the 150 Crowns you lent, along with Fried Meat and a Skellige Longsword. Taking this route lets you get your loan back but closes off the larger repayment waiting in Fyresdal.
If your only goal is money, sparing the man nets more overall. Killing him mainly recovers what you lent plus the loot from his corpse.

Confirm the quest is complete
Because Worthy of Trust has no active journal tracking, the clearest sign of completion is the journal entry appearing only after the quest ends. If you spared the man, collecting the 200 Crowns in Fyresdal closes it out and the entry logs that the borrower paid his debt in full. If you killed him, the entry notes that the only way to collect on the loan was to end him. Either way, once the journal records the outcome, Worthy of Trust is finished.
