The Mutation Machine in Throw a Coin lets you force a mutation onto items you already own instead of waiting for the fountain to hand you a lucky roll. Feed it copies of the same item, pay the fee, and it returns a single mutated version worth far more when you sell it. It arrived with Update 3 on July 18, 2026, and it is the only way to reach the top-tier Divine mutation.
Quick answer: Place two to four copies of the same item into the Mutation Machine next to the Worlds portal, press the green button to pay the cash fee, and wait for the timer to reach zero. The inputs are consumed and you receive one item carrying a mutation.

Where to find the Mutation Machine
The machine sits at one end of the map, right beside the Worlds portal. It is a large blue-and-gray futuristic unit with a dark opening on the left and a bright white panel on the right, so it stands out from the rest of the area. Walk up to it to open the submission menu.
Before you can start, you need at least two copies of the exact same item. Duplicates you would normally sell are the raw material here, so hold onto matching items rather than cashing them out right away.

Add to Google Preferences →Every mutation and its sale value multiplier
Five mutations exist, and each one raises the item’s sale value by a set amount. Big and Huge also change the item’s size, Rainbow gives it a shifting color, and Astral turns it purple and oversized. Only one mutation can sit on an item at a time.
| Mutation | Value multiplier | Appearance |
|---|---|---|
| Big | 3x | Twice the size of the base item |
| Huge | 6x | Four times the size of the base item |
| Rainbow | 12x | Color shifts constantly |
| Astral | 25x | Purple tint and very large size |
| Divine | 120x | Highest-value variant, machine only |
Big, Huge, Rainbow, and Astral can all appear straight from the fountain, with Big and Huge showing up more often than Rainbow and Astral. Divine never drops naturally and can only come out of the Mutation Machine.
How to run the Mutation Machine
You know it worked when the machine returns one item instead of your original stack and that item now carries a mutation label and its matching visual, such as a color-shifting Rainbow finish or an oversized Astral look.
How to guarantee a Divine mutation
Feeding already-mutated items into the machine raises the odds of a stronger result. The strongest outcome is fully deterministic. Load four copies of the same item that all carry the Astral mutation, and the machine returns a Divine item at a 100 percent chance.
Because Astral itself does not appear often from the fountain, reaching a guaranteed Divine takes some stockpiling. Save Astral duplicates as you find them, or use smaller batches of mutated items first to build up toward four matching Astral copies.
Note: An item can never hold two mutations. The machine only ever applies a single mutation to the final item, and there is no way to stack them naturally either.
Used well, the Mutation Machine turns spare duplicates into far more valuable stock, with the Astral-to-Divine path giving you a reliable 120x payout on items that would otherwise sell for their base price.
