With the Festival Finale rolling out alongside Update 3.25, the best units win their spots through a mix of damage, crowd control, armor and Hyper Armor breaking, team buffs, elemental coverage, and how well they hold up across Infinite, Challenges, Virtual Realm, and Ragnarok. The rankings below assume late-game investment: fully evolved units where applicable, full Etherealization, top traits, and matched relics.
Quick answer: Run Triple Threat (Unrivaled) or King Sailor (Unrivaled) in your Leader slot, pair a meta carry like The Strongest of Today or The Strongest in History, add a Synchro pairing such as Unparalleled Armor, and finish with Bulma plus Fastcart if you are building toward a Synchro Drive.
UTDX unit tier list (DPS)
S-Tier is the current meta. A-Tier units are strong alternatives, B-Tier covers situational picks, and C/D are less optimal for the hardest content. Story progression is far more forgiving, so almost any unit can clear early maps once you upgrade and Etherealize it. The tier order matters most for Infinite, Challenges, Virtual Realm, Ragnarok, and Events.

The Universal Festival Finale adds four new units to the pool. Each one leans into a clear role rather than pure sheet DPS, and most of them spike hard at specific Etherealization breakpoints.

Why the top S-Tier carries stand out
King Sailor (Unrivaled) is a Water/Ground unit that works as a team amplifier rather than a solo carry. Manipulator of Fate and Unrivaled Mark hand out large tag- and element-based buffs, while Baal’s Lightning adds chain pressure and sets up Rukh’s Judgement. His full max cost of 91,800 is steep, so he only pays off in a composition that can actually use those buffs.

The Strongest of Today is a Light/Ground control unit. Limitless Sorcerer slows enemies entering range and makes them take 25% more damage, Domain Expansion forces a 30-second Timestop in range, and Infinite Purple deals 300% damage to all enemies on the map. He has a single placement and a max cost of 79,000, so positioning matters more than usual.
The Strongest in History is a Boundless Dark/Ground unit evolved from Cursed Vessel. The Shadows permanently marks enemies and stacks bonus damage, slows, and stuns as more marked enemies gather. Shadow Emerge adds follow-up Bleed attacks, and Ten Umbra runs two copy summons at once at full upgrade. It is the strongest non-Synchro DPS in the game once it ramps, but its 117,500 total cost is one of the greediest investments in the meta.
Synchro units and Synchro Clash pairings
Synchro Drive fuses two max-upgrade units into one, taking the stats, traits, and relics from a single side of the pair. These produce the highest DPS in the game, and the cost of two units is generally worth it. Synchro Clash works differently. It triggers automatically when two specific units are both maxed and standing inside each other’s range, firing a combined attack.

To fuse, both units must be at max upgrade, owned by you or requested from another player. The Synchro unit only inherits one side’s setup, so put your best traits and relics on the side you want carried over. Among the Synchro Clash pairs, Pirate King and Quake Warlord is one of the most important Update 3.25 synergies, though its combined attack runs on a long 300-second cooldown.

Leader, support, and farm setup
Team buffs only apply when the buffing unit sits in the Leader or first slot. Place Triple Threat (Unrivaled), King Sailor (Unrivaled), or Angel Born in Hell there to get their team buffs. In any other slot, the buffs do nothing.

For economy, Bulma alone is enough to rush upgrades on most teams. If you are building toward a Synchro Drive, run both Bulma and Fastcart to speed up the upgrade path so you can reach max on both fusion components at the same time.
Best traits and relics per unit
Ruler is the default best trait for almost every top carry. A handful of units prefer alternatives for specific roles, such as Astral on Spade (Donut) for Burn DoT, or Eternal on Sharpshooter King (Trapper). Match the relic set to the unit’s actual job rather than chasing pure damage.

Joyful Captain has three passive paths. The top path is best for full AOE DPS, the middle path turns him into a DPS hybrid with damage amplification and knockbacks, and the bottom path is best avoided. Keep elemental interactions in mind, since attacks deal 2.5x more with an advantage and 5x less with a disadvantage.

Best support and farm units
Support units make the rest of your roster stronger, and a strong late-game team rarely comes online without them. The S-tier support picks focus on buffs, crowd control, upgrade-cost reduction, and economy.

Note: Virtual Idol, Love Goddess, Bulma, and Fastcart all deal little or no damage on their own, so they take a slot purely for buffs or money. Pair them with a real carry to justify the placement.
Best traits by role
The best trait depends on what the unit is supposed to do. Ruler is the premium carry trait, but placement limits, wave scaling, DoT stacking, boss damage, and farm income change the answer for each role.

Quick rule: use Ruler on elite one-placement carries, Eternal for long-wave scaling, Sacred when you want the safest universal trait, Astral or Wizard for DoT kits, Duelist for bosses, Artificer for relic-scaling support, and Fortunate only on farm units.
How to verify your build is working
A Leader buff is active when surrounding units show the increase on their stat tooltip after placement. If the buff numbers do not change, the buffing unit is not in the Leader or first slot.
Synchro Drive completes only when both source units are at max upgrade. If the fusion option is greyed out, one side is not maxed or you have not requested the second unit from another player. A Synchro Clash will visibly fire a combined attack once both units are maxed and within range of each other, so if it does not trigger, move the units closer or finish their upgrades.
The Strongest in History is obtained by clearing the Red Universal Tear when it is in rotation, which switches every three hours, then evolving the Mythic Cursed Vessel with 1 Boundless Orb, 5 Universal Fragments, 15 Phantom Fragments, 19 Cursed Fingers, and 12 Burning Fragments. If the Tear is not visible in the lobby, it is simply not in the current rotation window.
How to get more units
New units come from the Summon system, with different banners offering different selections. The Special and Selection banners use Gems, while the Limited banner uses Universal Gems. To pull, open the Areas menu, head to the Summon area, then use 1x Summon (50 Gems) or 10x Summons (450 Gems).
Rankings shift with every balance pass, so expect movement as the Festival Finale units get tested over the coming days. For now, building around a maxed meta carry, a strong Synchro pairing, a Leader buffer, and a reliable farm unit gives you a roster that clears the hardest current modes without leaning on a single damage source.
