Voidling Bound runs on five elements that shape how every creature evolves and fights: Organic, Pyro, Cryo, Cyber, and Plasma. Each Voidling species is tied to two of these elements, and that pairing decides which mutagens you need to upgrade it down its branching paths. The element you bring into a fight also controls which enemy factions you punish hardest and what status effects you can stack on targets.
Quick answer: Match your element to the faction you are clearing. Organic beats Lesionspawns and Ancients, Pyro beats Lesionspawns and Crystallines, Cryo beats Ancients and GenBots, Cyber beats Crystallines and GenBots, and Plasma is effective against every faction. Use splicing later in the game to override a Voidling’s default element when a stage demands a different match.

The five elements and how they work
Every species comes in two of the five elements when you upgrade it. That choice is not just cosmetic. It sets the mutagen costs along each evolution branch and determines the faction matchups and status effects you get access to. Once you unlock splicing, you can change a Voidling’s elements and custom build it to handle specific stages.

Add to Google Preferences →Element affinities against enemy factions
Affinity decides how well an element performs against each enemy faction. Four elements have two strong matchups each, while Plasma trades that focus for broad coverage against everything you face.
| Element | Highly effective against |
|---|---|
| Organic | Lesionspawns and Ancients |
| Pyro | Lesionspawns and Crystallines |
| Cryo | Ancients and GenBots |
| Cyber | Crystallines and GenBots |
| Plasma | Effective against all factions |
Tip: If a stage throws mixed factions at you, Plasma is the safe pick because it never has a poor matchup, but a focused element will still out-damage it against the one faction it counters.

Elemental status effects
Each element can apply one status to the enemies it hits, though not every ability triggers it. An ability’s tooltip tells you whether it can inflict its element’s status. Here is what each one does.
| Element | Status | How it behaves |
|---|---|---|
| Organic | Poison | Moderate damage over time that scales with stack count, capping at 15 stacks. |
| Pyro | Burn | Moderate damage over time. |
| Cryo | Frostbite | Slows targets and can eventually Freeze them with enough stacks. Freeze does not work on bosses. |
| Cyber | Static | Builds up on enemies hit; reaching 5 stacks triggers Static Discharge for a large burst of damage. |
| Plasma | Disintegration | Low damage over time that stacks up to 5 times, dealing more with each stack. The stacks never wear off. |
Voidling species by element
There are nine playable species, and each one carries two elements. The pairing below reflects the two elements each species uses across its mutation tree branches.
| Species | Elements |
|---|---|
| Kwipeck | Organic, Pyro |
| Gilick | Pyro, Cryo |
| Kerapin | Organic, Cryo |
| Gwigoon | Organic, Plasma |
| Anami | Cryo, Cyber |
| Ur-Sek | Organic, Plasma |
| Nimiod | Organic, Cyber |
| Morfang | Pyro, Plasma |
| Packuran | Plasma, Cyber |
Grouped the other way, each element appears across several species. That overlap matters when you are deciding which Voidling to evolve for a given faction.
| Element | Voidlings |
|---|---|
| Organic | Kwipeck, Kerapin, Gwigoon, Ur-Sek, Nimiod |
| Pyro | Kwipeck, Gilick, Morfang |
| Cryo | Gilick, Kerapin, Anami |
| Cyber | Anami, Nimiod, Packuran |
| Plasma | Gwigoon, Ur-Sek, Morfang, Packuran |
Changing a Voidling’s element with splicing
A species starts locked to its two default elements, but splicing unlocks later in the game and lets you override that default. You can use it to retune a Voidling so its element lines up with the faction you are about to face, which is the most direct way to gain a strong matchup on a creature you have already built. Because the element also sets mutagen requirements and which status effect you can apply, splicing effectively reshapes how that Voidling plays against different stages.
