Weapons in VV Ultimatum are locked to the race you pick during character creation, so there is no single “best weapon” that works for everyone. Quincy choose from a fixed set of Spirit Weapons, Shinigami grow a single Zanpakutō, and Hollow earn a weapon only after evolving into an Arrancar. The rankings below tell you which option to commit to for each path.
Quick answer: If you are Quincy, pick the Sword. It has no major weakness and carries you cleanly through early progression and PvP until you unlock your Evolved Spirit Weapon.
Update 1 is expected this weekend, June 20–21, which may shift parts of the weapon meta once new content goes live. Until then, the picks here reflect the current in-game descriptions and how each weapon actually plays.
How weapons work in each VV Ultimatum race
Because weapon access is tied to your race, a top pick for one path has no equivalent in another. Each race also grows its weapon differently as you level.
| Race | Weapon system |
|---|---|
| Quincy | Chooses one of 8 Spirit Weapons at creation, then evolves it into an Evolved Spirit Weapon. |
| Shinigami | Builds a Zanpakutō from three parts and grows it through the Shikai system. |
| Hollow | Unlocks a race-specific weapon only after evolving into an Arrancar (Vastocar). |
Note: exact stats are not shown in-game for most weapons, and the Shinigami and Hollow systems are still being tested by the community. Treat the rankings as practical, progression-focused calls rather than final DPS charts.
Quincy Spirit Weapons tier list
Quincy pick from eight Spirit Weapons at character creation, each with its own range, speed, damage, and moveset. The Sword sits at the top because it is the safest choice with no obvious weakness, while the lower tiers trade too much speed or damage for one narrow advantage.
| Tier | Spirit Weapon | Why it ranks here |
|---|---|---|
| S | Sword | Balanced damage, range, and speed. The safest all-rounder for PvE progression and early PvP. |
| A | Spear | The longest reach of any weapon. Excellent for poking and spacing, but weaker when forced up close. |
| A | Longsword | Sword-like comfort with extra reach and lower damage. Good for careful, methodical players. |
| B | Greatsword | High damage and range, but slow swings that are easy to punish if you whiff. |
| B | Hammer | Blunt, high-damage pressure weapon that rewards clean timing and punishes overextensions. |
| B | Club | Slow blunt weapon with strong posture pressure. Better for breaking guards than clean DPS. |
| C | Rifle | Reliable range but below-average damage, so it struggles to convert spacing into pressure. |
| C | Rapier | Fast pokes with decent reach, held back by low damage compared to Sword or Longsword. |
For most players, Sword is the cleanest pick because it never forces you into an awkward matchup. Spear and Longsword are the strongest alternatives if you already understand spacing and want to fight at range. The heavy options (Greatsword, Hammer, Club) reward confident timing, while Rifle and Rapier are playable but harder to justify until their damage feels more reliable.
How to evolve your Quincy Spirit Weapon
Spirit Weapons upgrade into a stronger Evolved Spirit Weapon. To unlock it, obtain the Sanrei Glove and the ability to meditate, then meditate and finish additional missions until you reach Max Reiatsu. The Sword’s reliability makes it the ideal weapon to hold while you work toward that evolution.
Shinigami Zanpakutō system
Shinigami do not choose from fixed weapon classes. Instead, they build and grow a single Zanpakutō assembled from three parts: a Handle, a Guard, and a Hilt. Those parts range from simple stat bonuses to passives that change how you play, so the best Shinigami weapon depends on the combination you put together.
The blade itself appears as one of a few base forms. A strict S/A/B ranking is not practical yet because power comes mostly from parts and Shikai stage rather than the base form alone.
| Base form | Profile |
|---|---|
| Greatsword | Heavy form built around serious damage and reach. |
| Greataxe | Another heavy form with wide, hard-hitting swings. |
| Katana | Faster, balanced blade that leans on clean, consistent strikes. |
Progression is tied to the Shikai system. You unlock stronger stages by meditating and accumulating Shikai EXP, so your power scales with your character instead of swapping weapons.
Hollow weapons tier list
Hollow players do not receive a weapon early. Your race-specific armament unlocks only after you complete the Hollow path and evolve into a Vastocar, which turns you into an Arrancar. That makes the weapon an endgame reward and another reason to push all the way to Vasto Lorde before evolving.
| Hollow weapon | Profile |
|---|---|
| Greatsword | Trades speed for high damage and range. One of the strongest melee options. |
| Hammer | Blunt, high-impact weapon that squishes enemies and pressures posture. |
| Katana | Balanced, easy-to-wield blade for players who want consistency. |
| Minigun | Bulky ranged weapon that spams bullets at distance with great speed and range, but low per-hit damage. |
| Lance | Long-reach poking weapon. Divisive, but a comfortable middle pick. |
| Great Axe | Decent range and attack, but slow to recover. A heavier faux variant of the Hammer. |
| Spear | Extremely high range that lacks in nearly every other stat. |
Among these, the Greatsword and Hammer offer the highest payoff for melee builds, the Katana stays consistent, and the Minigun is the standout ranged option if you can keep your distance and overwhelm enemies with fire. The Spear sits at the bottom because its reach does not make up for weak damage and speed. Exact damage values and movesets are still being confirmed, so prioritize reaching Arrancar form first since none of these weapons are accessible before then.
Best weapon recommendation by race
| Race | Best pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Quincy | Sword | No major weakness; reliable for progression and early PvP. Spear and Longsword are strong if you want extra reach. |
| Shinigami | Katana base + Shikai | Balanced base form; real strength comes from your three Zanpakutō parts and Shikai stage. |
| Hollow | Greatsword or Minigun | Greatsword for high melee damage and range; Minigun for sustained ranged pressure. |
You can put any of these into practice by jumping into VV Ultimatum on Roblox. Lock in your race, commit to the weapon that matches your playstyle, and expect minor shifts once Update 1 lands this weekend.
