The Gauntlet is a challenge mode in VV Ultimatum that holds five separate boss runs, each split into waves and each paying out titles, memory buffs, Soul Tokens, and some of the hardest-to-get items in the game. You access it through the statue of Gelum at Fort Adams, but only after one crafting requirement is met.

What you need to unlock The Gauntlet
The single gate to The Gauntlet is one Dark Spirit Alloy. This is a separate material from the regular Spirit Alloy, and it cannot be bought or dropped. You have to craft it yourself before Edmordt will open the mode.

The Gauntlet currently holds five challenges. Three were available from the start, and a recent update added two more. Every challenge runs in waves and pays out a fixed set of rewards once cleared.

How to unlock the two newer challenges
Unparalleled Strength and The Other Side do not appear on the statue menu by default. You have to beat their bosses in the open world first, and the requirements split into two pairs.
- Defeat Junichiro and Lord Nivis in the open world to unlock Unparalleled Strength.
- Defeat The Parasite and The Grey Hunter to unlock The Other Side.
Once those bosses are down, the matching challenges become selectable at the Gelum statue alongside the original three.

How to confirm The Gauntlet is unlocked
You know the unlock worked when the Gelum statue at Fort Adams opens a challenge selection screen instead of showing nothing. If the statue still does not respond, the ‘The Gauntlet’ quest is not yet complete, which usually means the Dark Spirit Alloy has not been crafted or has not been handed back to Edmordt.
The two locked challenges stay hidden until their open-world bosses are defeated, so an incomplete menu is normal until you have cleared Junichiro, Lord Nivis, The Parasite, and The Grey Hunter. Work through the three starter runs first, bank the Clan Tokens and Memory buffs, then return for Unparalleled Strength and The Other Side once those bosses are down.
