Where to Find the Razor Hill Hunter Trainer in World of Warcraft

Every Horde hunter who leaves the Valley of Trials eventually needs to visit Razor Hill to pick up new abilities and higher ranks. The class trainer there is an orc named Thotar, and he is easy to walk straight past because he is tucked below ground rather than out in the open.

Where Razor Hill sits in Durotar

Razor Hill is the orcish crossroads town in central Durotar. The southern road runs down to Sen’jin Village and the Valley of Trials, while the northern road heads up to Orgrimmar. If you have just finished the starting zone, follow the road north and you will reach the settlement.

Open your map to confirm your position. Razor Hill appears in the middle of the zone, with the Northern Barrens and the Great Sea to the west and Sen’jin Village to the south.

How to reach Thotar in the Razor Hill bunker

In Durotar, head for the center of Razor Hill. Enter the courtyard through the archway beside the road, then stop near the town’s midpoint.

Find the wooden-and-stone bunker at ground level below the raised watch platform occupied by NPC Gath’rok. Since it is built below the surface, take the ramp downward instead of looking for a regular doorway.

Descend the entrance ramp into the bunker. The underground chamber is small, and the hunter trainer is in the inside room on the left.

Walk up to Thotar <Hunter Trainer> and speak with him. Pick the “Please train me.” option to open his training window and browse the abilities available at your level.

The bunker also holds Harruk, the Pet Trainer, in the adjacent corridor, so you can sort out both your class abilities and pet skills in one visit.

Don’t confuse the bunker with the barracks

The most prominent building in town is the Razor Hill Barracks, a large fortress flanked by two Razor Hill Grunts. That is where other class trainers, such as the Shaman trainer, are found. The hunter trainer is not inside the barracks, so head to the sunken bunker beneath Gath’rok’s platform instead.

Thotar’s training list grows as you level, but the low-level abilities you can pick up first are shown below. Costs are listed in silver.

As you climb toward level 60, Thotar continues to sell higher ranks of these skills along with the rest of the hunter toolkit, including Aimed Shot, Concussive Shot, traps, and the aspect line.

How to confirm you found the right trainer

You know you have the correct NPC when the nameplate above him reads Thotar <Hunter Trainer> and a green selection circle appears at his feet after you click him. Choosing the training option opens the ability list, letting you learn any skill your level and coin allow.

If the trainer window does not show hunter abilities, you are talking to the wrong NPC. Gath’rok, Orgnil Soulcleaver, Gail Short, and Innkeeper Gryshka all stand nearby, so double-check the title on the nameplate before opening a conversation.
