Version 2.3 of Where Winds Meet adds Qingzhou, and the region comes with new Oddities. Four of them sit close together around the mountain trail at Porter’s Burden Trailhead and the lakeside below it. A sunken chest puzzle is in the nearby water. Each one is solved with a single tool you already have: your bow, Meridian Touch, the drum dials, Mighty Drop, or the Lift Up prompt.

Quick answer: Shoot the flying bird for Earthsong Xun. Use Meridian Touch on the hidden bell for Bronzepeal Zhong. Tune two drums for Hidesound Gu. Use Mighty Drop on weasel fog for Bamboonote Chi.

Oddities stay hidden on the map until you get close. Once you are near one, a Fairy icon appears. Every solve also adds Qingzhou Exploration progress and stored EXP.

Qingzhou access requirements

You have to be able to reach the region before any of these puzzles count. Qingzhou opens when you meet these conditions:

  • Reach Character Level 32.
  • Finish the Chapter 1: Heaven Has No Pier main story quest.
  • Start the Lost Chapter Away to Qingzhou, which takes you to the region.

How to solve the four new Qingzhou Oddities

All four are close to each other, so you can clear them in one trip. Start on the stone steps leading up to Porter’s Burden Trailhead and work your way down toward the water.

Earthsong Xun: shoot the wooden bird

Follow the mountain trail toward Porter’s Burden Trailhead until you reach the stone arch gate. Stop there and look up.
Find the wooden bird target flying through the sky above the arch. Aim your bow at it and shoot it down.
Walk to the spot where the bird landed and pick up the item it dropped. The log shows “Obtained Earthsong Xun*1,” along with Stored EXP +750 and Qingzhou Exploration +3.

Bronzepeal Zhong: strike the hidden bell

Keep climbing until you reach the overlook. Li Wuji and Yao Qianshu stand there next to an old pine tree.
Use Meridian Touch on the base of the rock under the tree. This reveals a bell hidden in the stone.
Choose the “Hit” prompt to strike the bell, then loot it. You should see “Obtained Bronzepeal Zhong*1” and Mindset +1.

Hidesound Gu: tune two drums

Head down to the forest edge beside the lake. Look for a round drum fixed to a tree trunk.
Interact with the drum and turn its tuning dials until they line up.

Find the second drum on the rocky ledge of the bank nearby. Line up its dials the same way. When both drums are tuned, you receive “Obtained Hidesound Gu*1.”

Bamboonote Chi: catch the yellow weasel

Bamboonote Chis are spread around Qingzhou, and yellow weasels steal them. The weasels hide inside clouds of yellowish-green stinky fog. A tutorial window explains this the first time you run into one.

The Bamboonote Chi tutorial tells you that Mighty Drop clears the weasel's fog. Shown at 01:23 in JBGamingExp’s video. Image: Everstone Studio
Look for patches of stinky fog drifting along the riverbank.
Jump and use Mighty Drop right on top of the fog. This breaks it up and makes the weasel run.
Chase the weasel to the next place it stops. Land another Mighty Drop there to catch it and take back the Bamboonote Chi.

Qingzhou water spring chest puzzle

Out in the lake, a bubbling spring is holding a chest underwater. To bring the chest up, you have to plug the spring with a heavy rock.

Swim out to the spot where bubbles rise to the surface of the lake.

Find the stone underwater close by and pick it up with the “Lift Up” prompt.
Carry the stone until you are directly over the swirling spring. Choose “Put Down” to trigger “Block the Spring.”
Wait for the chest to rise to the surface, then open it. Inside you get Echo Jade*2, Coin +1200, Jade Fish, and upgrade materials such as Oscillating Jade, Tiger Bone Liquor, and Ebon Iron: Ever-Aflame.

Confirming each Oddity counted

Every solve produces an “Obtained [Oddity]*1” entry in the system log and increases your Qingzhou Exploration total. The Oddities serve a purpose beyond collecting: exchange them with Oddity Exchange NPCs to improve your Melodies of Peace talent and gain stat boosts and arts. Once that log entry appears, the Oddity is in your inventory and can be exchanged.
