Where Winds Meet: Broken Blade of the Benevolent Walkthrough (Wellspring Town Part 2)

Broken Blade of the Benevolent is a short Wandering Tale in Where Winds Meet. It takes place at the Golden Basin Escort Agency in Wellspring Town, part of the Qingzhou Eastern Peak area. A former bandit named Sun Jiu wants to track down an old acquaintance, and you carry a bag of wedding cakes between them. The whole tale takes about two minutes, and there is no combat.

Quick answer: Talk to Sun Jiu at the stone lions outside Golden Basin Escort Agency. Give Sun Jiu’s Bag to Hu Yue in the courtyard, then eavesdrop on their meeting from behind the spear rack.

Sun Jiu location in Wellspring Town

Sun Jiu stands at the front entrance of the Golden Basin Escort Agency in Wellspring Town. Two white stone lion statues flank the gate. You can reach it on foot over the town’s stone paths and bridge, or set a Temporary Waypoint on the gate from the world map and travel across the rooftops. The tale sits in the Exploration menu under Wandering Tales, in the Wellspring Town Part 2 group. Selecting it there and opening the map shows his exact spot.

The in-game hint tells you that Sun Jiu is searching for a very burly man, and that you should check wherever tiger pelts are found. That points straight into the escort agency compound behind him.

Broken Blade of the Benevolent walkthrough

Talk to Sun Jiu at the gate. He explains that he raided caravans around Qingzhou as a young bandit, and that he is now looking for a bladesman with a broken blade. When the conversation ends, he gives you Sun Jiu’s Bag, which is stuffed with traditional wedding cakes and his wedding invitation.

Walk through the gate into the escort agency’s training courtyard. Hu Yue, the captain, sits at an outdoor table in the corner of the yard with Divine Fist Li and Shen Saiying.

When the submission menu appears, give Sun Jiu’s Bag to Hu Yue. In the conversation afterward, explain that it contains Sun Jiu’s wedding invitation and cakes, and that Sun Jiu is waiting near the entrance.

Wait at the table until Sun Jiu walks into the courtyard and comes over to confront Hu Yue. You don’t have to go back to the gate to fetch him.

Step back to the fence with the spear rack beside the table and use the eavesdrop prompt there. A listening icon appears while the two former bandits talk about their past and the escort agency work they do now.

Eavesdropping — The eavesdrop prompt appears behind the spear rack once Sun Jiu reaches Hu Yue's table, and it is the final action of the tale. Shown at 00:48 in Marry u0026 Perry’s video. Image: Everstone Studio

The tale completes as soon as the overheard conversation ends. There is no extra hand-in, so you don’t need to speak to either NPC again.

Broken Blade of the Benevolent rewards

Reward	Amount
Echo Jade	30
Qingzhou Exploration	10
Coin	3,750
Stored EXP	3,750

All four rewards arrive together the moment the tale finishes. The Qingzhou Exploration points count toward your completion percentage for the region.

How to confirm the tale is complete

Three things tell you the tale is finished:

A Wandering Tales notification pops up right after the eavesdropped dialogue.
The Obtained screen lists Echo Jade, Qingzhou Exploration, Coin, and Stored EXP.
Under Exploration, then Wandering Tales, then Wellspring Town Part 2, Broken Blade of the Benevolent is marked Completed.

The tale’s step log also changes. Its last entry should read that it was recorded after eavesdropping on Hu Yue and Sun Jiu’s meeting. If that line is there, the tale is done.
