Where Winds Meet: How to Unlock the Seasonal Edge Inner Way

Buy all 10 Pages from one Kaifeng City merchant to assemble the Tome and slot this dual-weapon buff.

Buy all 10 Pages from one Kaifeng City merchant to assemble the Tome and slot this dual-weapon buff.

Seasonal Edge is a legendary Inner Way in Where Winds Meet that fires off a random offensive buff every time you land a Dual-Weapon Skill. It is a pure combat passive, so it only earns its slot if you run a dual-wield setup that triggers it often. Unlike Inner Ways tied to bosses or Lost Chapter quests, this one is bought outright from a single merchant.

Quick answer: Travel to the Studio of Calligraphy & Painting in the Fairgrounds of Kaifeng City and buy all 10 Seasonal Edge: Pages from Cao Sheng for 500 Echo Jade each. Owning all 10 assembles the Seasonal Edge: Tome, which unlocks the Inner Way.

What Seasonal Edge does

After you use a Dual-Weapon Skill, Seasonal Edge grants one of four random attack buffs for 8 seconds. The possible buffs are increased Critical Rate, Affinity Rate, Physical Damage, or All Attribute Attack. Each activation rolls a fresh buff, so the value comes from procing it repeatedly rather than relying on any single roll.

The trigger is locked to dual-wield skills only. Pairing it with Martial Arts that fire Dual-Weapon Skills frequently, such as Sword Horizon or Blossom Barrage, keeps the buff active through sustained fights. Remember that you can equip up to four Inner Ways at once, so weigh Seasonal Edge against the rest of your loadout before committing a slot.

Unlock steps: buy the 10 Seasonal Edge Pages

Head to Kaifeng City and open your map to find the Fairgrounds. The merchant you need sits inside the Studio of Calligraphy & Painting there.
Speak to Cao Sheng at the shop. He stocks 10 distinct Seasonal Edge: Pages, each priced at 500 Echo Jade.
Purchase all 10 Pages. The full set costs 5,000 Echo Jade. Once you hold all 10, they combine into the Seasonal Edge: Tome and the Inner Way becomes available to equip.

Note: The unlock is confirmed the moment the Tome assembles. If Seasonal Edge is still greyed out, check that you own the complete set of Pages rather than a partial stock.

Breakthrough tiers and how to raise them

Once unlocked, Seasonal Edge starts at Tier 1 and improves through the Breakthrough system. Each Breakthrough consumes Seasonal Edge: Notes, and every tier changes how the buff behaves rather than just scaling numbers.

TierBreakthrough bonus
1Extends the buff duration to 12 seconds for longer uptime.
2Adds Physical Attack scaled to your Solo Mode level.
320% chance to gain two random bonuses at once.
4Cuts the cooldown by 5 seconds (triggers once every 25 seconds max).
5Adds +2.8% Physical Damage Bonus to all attacks.
615% chance for three bonuses; 5% chance for all four at once.

You can source Seasonal Edge: Notes from three places. The most direct is Merchant Tang Lun in the Granary of Plenty, who sells 10 Notes at 200 Echo Jade each. The other two options rely on random pulls from chests.

SourceHow it works
Tang Lun (Granary of Plenty)Buy up to 10 Seasonal Edge: Notes directly for 200 Echo Jade each.
Season ShopBuy Inner Way Note: Chest (up to 30) with the current season currency, then open for a chance at the Note.
Zhao Feiyan’s WarehouseBuy Inner Way Note: Chest (up to 20) and open for a chance at the Note.

Tip: The chest routes give random results, so the guaranteed Tang Lun stock is the reliable way to hit a specific tier without gambling on rolls.

Best weapons to trigger Seasonal Edge

Because the buff only fires on Dual-Weapon Skills, the strongest setups are ones that spam those skills. A Sword Horizon core built around the Doombound Sword lands its pierce-heavy Dual-Weapon Skills often, chaining lights and specials into steady buff uptime that pairs well with the multi-buff tier bonuses.

A more mobile alternative pairs the Vernal Umbrella with the Heavenquaker Spear. Umbrella fans trigger the buffs while spear pokes extend them, which suits parry-focused play and syncs neatly with the Tier 4 cooldown reduction for near-constant uptime. Sword Horizon and Blossom Barrage together form the most consistent duo, since Horizon’s charges proc buffs on finishers and Barrage refreshes them through its spins.

Once the Tome is assembled and slotted, you will see the random attack buff appear each time you land a Dual-Weapon Skill in combat, which is the clearest sign Seasonal Edge is working as intended.
