Where Winds Meet: Ironheart Centipede World Boss Location and Fight Guide

Reach the hidden platform above the city, open the chest, and beat the blade-armed centipede in a single health bar.

The Ironheart Centipede is one of two world bosses added with the Hidden Mountains expansion in Where Winds Meet. It sits at the top of a broken mountain path near the point where you first enter the region, and you reach its arena by climbing up instead of dropping into the city below.

Quick answer: Teleport to the spot where you first enter Hidden Mountains after the Heron encounter, take the upward path an NPC warns is in disrepair, ride the ziplines past the rock-throwing monkeys to the summit, then interact with the chest on the platform to open the Ironheart Centipede boss room.

Unlock Hidden Mountains before you can fight it

You cannot reach the Ironheart Centipede until the Hidden Mountains region is open. Access starts with the quest “Yingying’s Invitation,” which begins a chain of objectives. Most of it is straightforward marker-following, though it ends with a boating segment across a river that can take several tries to clear.

Once the region is unlocked, the same expansion also holds a second world boss, the puppet duo Ci and Cuo. Only the Ironheart Centipede is covered here.

How to reach the Ironheart Centipede

Set a boundary stone as your teleport target before you start, since you will want a quick way back if you fall or die on the climb.

Travel to the spot where you first properly enter Hidden Mountains, right after your encounter with Heron. This is the starting point for the whole route.

Instead of heading down the ridge toward the city, take the path that climbs upward. An NPC warns that this route is dangerous because it has fallen into disrepair, which confirms you are going the right way.
Follow the path using its ziplines and other traversal points. The main threat along the way is a group of monkeys that throw rocks at you, so keep moving and don’t linger in the open.
At the top, you reach a cluster of monkeys, a boundary stone, and a chest resting on a small platform. Interact with the chest to open the boss room for the Ironheart Centipede.

Set your revive point inside the arena

When you enter the boss room, look for the Hero’s Tomb you can interact with. Activating it means you respawn there if you go down during the fight, which saves you the entire climb.

A close-range setup handles this boss well. A Rope Dart and Gauntlet combination pairs cleanly with its move set, and any melee build lets you stay on top of the centipede where most of its attacks miss.

Ironheart Centipede attacks and how to counter them

The Ironheart Centipede leans on two main attacks, both with mid-level range. Reading the tells and dealing damage in the gaps between them is enough to win.

AttackTellCounter
Sideways slashWide horizontal sweep at mid rangePull toward the boss with the Rope Dart to slip out of range, or deflect when the deflection-assist prompt appears
Ground stabLeans back while standing tall before striking down with both bladesDash backward or to the side; this hit has a closer range and lands directly below

Turning on deflection assist makes the sideways slash easier to handle, since the on-screen prompt gives you time to react. For the ground stab, watch specifically for that upright lean-back animation and move before the blades come down.

One health bar and a simple phase shift

Unlike some world bosses, the Ironheart Centipede has only one health bar. At a certain point it sheds part of its armor in a mini-phase shift, but its behavior does not really change afterward. Keep using the same dodges, deflects, and follow-up hits.

Its mechanics are on the gentler side compared to other world bosses, and a clean first attempt is realistic once you know both tells. When the single health bar empties, the fight ends and you claim the boss’s rewards, confirming the kill.
