Where Winds Meet: Voyage Across the Waves Encounter Walkthrough

Voyage Across the Waves is an encounter quest in Wellspring Town, inside the Qingzhou Eastern Peak region of Where Winds Meet. It begins with a staged argument over Boss Duan Yun’s reward and ends on a quiet beach, after you have unmasked two men claiming a bounty neither of them earned. The chain runs across Wellspring Town, the Cliffside Path, and a seaside cave, and it only starts if the in-game clock sits in the evening.

Quick answer: Set the time to about 18:00 near the Wellspring Town bridge, break up the dispute with “Stop Zhang Yang”, then travel to the Cliffside Path to beat Shen Dawang, expose Qian Laosan, and pick “Died at sea.” with Lin Xiaoyu.

Start the encounter in Wellspring Town

The encounter sits near the bridge and market in Wellspring Town. It will not fire in daylight, so the first job is to reach the spot and move the clock into the evening window before the crowd will react. Note the accept timer on the quest banner, which runs just under two days.

Open the world map at Wellspring Town and place a waypoint on the encounter marker. Make your way across the rooftops to the bridge area where the marker sits.

When the “Voyage Across the Waves” banner appears, open the clock menu and set the time to roughly 18:00 (the Shen/You period). The crowd only gathers at dusk.

Boss Duan Yun and Shen Dawang are arguing with Zhang Yang, Qi Mancang, and Liu Shunshui. Select “Stop Zhang Yang” to defuse the confrontation.

After the crowd disperses, speak to Qian Laosan. He hands over a River Fish and reveals that the claimants are heading to the eastern shore.

Expose Shen Dawang on the Cliffside Path

The trail moves to the coast, where a grave marker hides the first lie. Shen Dawang’s story falls apart on its own, and then you settle it in a short fight.

Open the Qingzhou map and fast-travel using the Cliffside Path landmark teleport.

Follow the wooden bridges and rocky trail along the cliff toward the grave marker near the water. A cutscene plays as Duan Yun questions Shen Dawang and his claims unravel.

When prompted to “Teach Shen Dawang a lesson”, defeat him with your melee and martial arts skills.

After the fight, talk to Qian Laosan when he arrives. He admits the real saviors had a daughter named Lin Xiaoyu.

Uncover Qian Laosan’s secret at the coast

With Shen Dawang dealt with, the second lie belongs to Qian Laosan himself. You find Lin Xiaoyu, catch him plotting, and track down a dagger that explains his past before the encounter closes.

Teleport back to the Cliffside Path landmark and climb down the cliffs toward the beach below.

Find the young Lin Xiaoyu on the shore; Duan Yun and Qian Laosan are there as well.

Follow Qian Laosan into the seaside cave and eavesdrop on his monologue. He plans to lace the food with a laxative.

Confront him back on the shore and select “Check the bottom of the bowl” to call out the drugged soup.

Lead Lin Xiaoyu away to the waterfall. While she is distracted, Qian Laosan explains his pirate past under Chieftain Du.

Return to the cave and investigate the straw sleeping mat near the campfire to find the pirate dagger. Its blade shows no rust despite the sea air, and an engraved motif marks it as no ordinary smith’s work.

Talk with Qian Laosan and Duan Yun about Lin Xiaoyu’s future, then approach her at the seaside. Select “Died at sea.” and complete the conversation to conclude the encounter.

The dagger sits on the mat only after you have sent Lin Xiaoyu to the waterfall, so handle the distraction step before you go searching the cave.

Rewards and completion check

The encounter is finished once the “Encounter – Voyage Across the Waves” completion screen appears after the final line with Lin Xiaoyu. That screen is your confirmation, and it lists the full payout below.
