World of Warcraft: Confront Lorthuna Full Quest Guide

Where the quest starts, the route up through the Rohashi Spires, and every reward you can pick at turn-in.

Where the quest starts, the route up through the Rohashi Spires, and every reward you can pick at turn-in.

Confront Lorthuna is the opening step of the Zephras Isle story chain, and it moves fast. One portal ride, a short fight up a floating spire, and a long scripted confrontation that ends with a Lord of the East Wind walking away. The quest itself is short, but the route to the ritual platform is where most players stall out.

Quick answer: Pick the quest up from Valennia Stormfist, take the Portal to Rohashi Spires, fight up to the Peacekeeper, ride the wind stream to the upper terrace, then speak with Elaadrin Evengale to start the confrontation.

Confront Lorthuna quest requirements and rewards

This is a low-level Horde quest that starts and ends on Zephras Isle. It was added in patch 1.60.1 and is sharable, so you can pass it to anyone in your group who missed the pickup.

Where to pick up Confront Lorthuna

Valennia Stormfist hands out the quest in the Sanctum of Storms. She has been beaten up badly enough that she cannot follow, which is the whole setup here. Lorthuna escaped upward through a portal, Ayessa Dawnsinger and Elaadrin Evengale chased her, and you are sent after them.

Open your map before you move. The Shrine of Akir sits nearby, and the Portal to Rohashi Spires is the swirling purple effect you are looking for, not a flight path or a ground route. Everything above happens on floating platforms in the sky.

Route to the Rohashi Spires ritual platform

Click the Portal to Rohashi Spires. You land on an exterior ledge high in the sky and the screen shows Discovered: Rohashi Spires, which confirms you are in the right place.

Fight along the outer walkway. Al’Aketh Honor Guards and Al’Aketh Skypriests are spread along the ledge, and they hit hard for the quest’s level range. Pull them one at a time rather than running through the pack.

If you do go down, the Spirit Healer on the spire is close to the walkway, so a death costs you a short run rather than the whole trip back through the portal.

Continue to the edge of the platform where a Peacekeeper NPC is standing and talk to them. This is the wind bridge point, and you may have to wait a moment for the vortex to form, since other players triggering the encounter can shift the timing.
Step into the air current when it appears. The wind stream carries you across the gap and up to the higher terrace where the ritual is taking place.

There is a Portal to Valanaar near the upper area. Clicking it before the encounter sends you straight to Valanaar Sanctuary and forces you to redo the trip, so leave it alone until the objective is complete.

How the Lorthuna confrontation plays out

Walk up to Elaadrin Evengale, the Supreme Magister of the High Order, and open his dialogue. Select the option that says you are ready to confront Lorthuna.

Follow the allied NPCs as they advance down the walkway to the central platform. Stay with the group rather than running ahead; the scene is on rails from here.

Watch the confrontation. Ayessa Dawnsinger, Elaadrin Evengale, and Alidor Stormchild all take turns pressing High Priestess Lorthuna, with warnings about Zephras traded back and forth. Lorthuna is not a kill target here.

Lorthuna finishes her ritual and Rohash, Lord of the East Wind arrives inside a huge whirlwind. He speaks to the assembled mortals, then summons Malevolent Storm elementals, with Baron Anvillaxx appearing alongside them.
Kill the elemental waves. Windshaper Shamans and the other allied NPCs fight beside you, so your job is mostly to stay out of the lightning strikes landing on the platform and help finish off the adds.
Let the reinforcements finish the job. A rift opens and Muln Earthfury, Earthen Ring shamans, Kirin Tor mages, and Archmage Ansirem Runeweaver arrive. After a short exchange with Rohash, he withdraws and the fight ends.

Turning in Confront Lorthuna in Valanaar

You know the encounter worked when the on-screen text reads Objective Complete: Confront Lorthuna 1/1 as Rohash departs. Nothing else needs to die after that point.

On the platform, Elaadrin Evengale creates a portal leading to Valanaar. Use it to arrive at Valanaar Sanctuary, then turn in the quest to the High Order group gathered there. Ayessa Dawnsinger receives the credit, with Elaadrin standing beside her. Pick a reward; The Fate of Zephras is available immediately afterward.

If you are unsure whether an older character already finished it, you can check the completion flag in chat:

/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(92646))

A true result means the quest is already done on that character. From there the chain continues through The Fate of Zephras, What Comes Next, The Earthen Ring, Welcome to Azeroth, and Exploring the Horde, so keeping the group in sight after each turn-in saves you another trip back up the spires.
