Shen’dar Village sits on Cephalon Isle and, like most starting hubs, it hides its profession trainers indoors rather than parking them in the town square. The Skinning trainer is one of them, which is why plenty of players circle the village center without spotting her.
Quick answer: Mendalass Tattermend <Skinner> stands beside a bookshelf inside the Calm Breeze Inn in Shen’dar Village. Enter the inn, walk down the hallway, and turn right.
Shen’dar Village Skinning trainer details
| Trainer | Title | Building | Zone |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mendalass Tattermend | <Skinner> | Calm Breeze Inn | Cephalon Isle |
She is positioned in a side room off the inn’s main hallway, next to a bookshelf, so she does not appear on the minimap until you are already inside the building.

How to confirm Skinning is learned
Once training goes through, Skinning shows up in your professions list with a skill value, and the gossip option to train it disappears from Mendalass Tattermend’s dialogue. That is the confirmation to look for before you leave the inn.
Learning the profession is not enough on its own. You still need a skinning knife in your bags, and a corpse has to be fully looted before it can be skinned, so keep some free bag space.
What Skinning gives you in WoW Forever
Skinning is not purely a gathering profession here. Taking it comes with a combat bonus and a set of recipes that put low-value skins to work.
- 5% increased damage to Beasts and Dragonkin while Skinning is learned.
- New recipes that consume rare hides which previously had little use.
- Three Skinning-specific campsite objects.
- Access to the Professions Legacy Tree perks that cover gathering and crafting progression.
Skinning campsite recipes
| Tier | Campsite object | How it is obtained |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | Camp Chair | Learned at skill level 20 |
| Tier 2 | Field Guide | Blueprint drop |
| Tier 3 | Trapper’s Workbench | Blueprint drop |
The first campsite recipe becomes available at skill level 20 and is taught either by camping NPCs or by profession trainers, which means a return trip to Mendalass Tattermend once you have skinned enough beasts. The two higher blueprints drop from specific dungeon bosses instead.
If you plan to pair Skinning with Leatherworking, it is worth grabbing both while you are in the village, since the leather you gather feeds directly into the armor kits, saddles, and bags on the Leatherworking side.
