World of Warcraft: How to Craft Cured Light Hide

Cured Light Hide is a low-level Leatherworking reagent in World of Warcraft, made by treating a raw Light Hide with Salt. The recipe is a basic Leatherworking craft. In Classic it unlocks at skill 35 and stays orange (a guaranteed skill point) until 55, so it doubles as a cheap way to level the profession in the early ranks. In modern retail the recipe sits under Classic Leatherworking at 55, turning yellow at 65 and green at 75.

Craft Cured Light Hide with Leatherworking

If you carry Leatherworking, making the hide is straightforward once you have both reagents in your bags. The craft turns 1 Light Hide and 1 Salt into a single Cured Light Hide.

Visit any Leatherworking trainer and learn the Cured Light Hide recipe if you have not already. It becomes available once your skill reaches 35 in Classic or 55 in modern retail.

Gather the reagents

Get 1 Light Hide. It is skinned or looted from beasts across Durotar and The Barrens, and it also turns up in the Auction House for a low price. Clearing packs of wildlife and skinning the corpses is the quickest way to stockpile a few.

Loot each downed beast and, if you have Skinning, work the corpse afterward for extra leather. Keep going until you have at least one Light Hide set aside for the craft.

Get 1 Salt. Salt is a cheap trade good sold by trade goods vendors and also listed on the Auction House, usually for about 10 copper.

Open your Leatherworking window, select Cured Light Hide from the list, and click Create. The finished hide drops straight into your bags.

Buy Cured Light Hide from the Auction House

You do not need Leatherworking to obtain one. A finished Cured Light Hide is cheap on most realms and often costs less than farming the parts yourself.

Head to the Orgrimmar Auction House and speak to the Auctioneer to open the browse window.

Buy out a listing. A finished Cured Light Hide typically sells for around 1 silver 30 copper, while a raw Light Hide runs about 25 copper.

Compare the two searches before you commit. If a finished hide costs about the same as a Light Hide plus Salt, buying it outright saves the trip to a trainer and the crafting step.

Confirming you have the hide

Whether you crafted or bought it, the Cured Light Hide appears in your bags as a stackable trade good. If you picked it up for Beasts of Thunder Ridge, the quest tracker updates to 1/1 Cured Light Hide the moment it enters your inventory, leaving only the Rough Lizard Hides to finish before you hand the quest in.
