World of Warcraft: Valanaar Mage Trainer Location

Valanaar’s mage trainer is easy to walk past. The settlement’s class trainers are spread between the open ground, the pond area, and one large stone building at the rear, and the mage sits inside that building rather than out in the open where most players look first.

Quick answer: Head to the large building at the back of Valanaar near the lake, go in through the stone archway by the blacksmith, and turn right in the upper chamber to find Anathamaas Aetherwind <Mage Trainer> against the wall.

Route to Anathamaas Aetherwind

Open your map while standing in Valanaar and find the back corner of the settlement, the section that borders the lake. That corner is your destination, so fix it in your head before you close the map and start moving.

Follow the cobblestone and grass path that runs toward the back of the settlement. Keep the large structure ahead of you in view and ignore the side buildings along the way.

Walk up to the tall stone archway that serves as the main entrance. It sits right beside the blacksmith, which is the clearest confirmation that you are at the correct building.

Run straight through the entrance hallway and continue up into the upper chamber. At the top, turn toward the right wing instead of carrying on forward.

Look along the wall in that right wing. Anathamaas Aetherwind stands there, stationary, so a quick tab-target or click is enough to pull up the trainer window.

How to confirm you found the right NPC

Target the NPC and check the name plate. It should read Anathamaas Aetherwind with <Mage Trainer> underneath. Class trainers only offer their training and talent options to matching characters, so a mage speaking to the correct NPC will see the usual training list open on interaction.

Mage trainers double as the reset point for talent points, which is worth remembering once you are deeper into leveling and want to change specs.

Not every trainer in Valanaar is tucked indoors. The druid trainer, Lotheluum Starbreeze, stands outside near a large tree above the pond and waterfall, close to where the fishing trainer is positioned. If you are on a druid rather than a mage, that is the NPC who hands out the quest chain leading to bear form, which points you toward another character near the end of the river before you can learn the ability.

The general habit holds up across the game’s settlements and cities. Mage trainers are placed in the local hub of arcane study, usually indoors and often within sight of a portal trainer, so the interior of Valanaar’s main hall is exactly where you would expect Anathamaas Aetherwind to be waiting.
