WoW Forever: How to Complete Tears of the Lady

Tears of the Lady is a two-minute errand that stops most players cold for one reason: they spend it staring at the ground. The moss the quest wants does not grow underfoot. It hangs off the sides of the enormous tree trunks scattered through Shadowgale Forest, and once you know that, the whole thing folds up fast.

Quick answer: Take Tears of the Lady from Elegael Thornpaw in Shadowgale Forest, pull 8 Lady’s Tear Moss off the tree trunks near the Shrine of Akir, then return to the same druid to hand it in.

Tears of the Lady quest requirements and rewards

The quest was added in patch 1.60.1 and sits in the low-level tier of the reworked starting content. It is sharable, has no faction restriction, and there is no timer, escort, or NPC to keep alive, so you can walk away mid-gather and pick it back up later.

The framing is simple enough. The druid needs a poultice for the wounded left behind at the Nightclaw Den, and Lady’s Tear is the binding agent — a sticky, antiseptic moss that grows around the bases of the forest’s trees. Whatever was in easy reach has already been stripped.

Where to find Lady’s Tear Moss in Shadowgale Forest

Elegael Thornpaw stands out in the open, so there is no hunting for the start point. Opening the world map from the druid’s position puts the Shrine of Akir and Shen’dar Village in view, which is the wedge of the zone you care about.

Accepting the quest paints a blue search circle onto the map, sitting south of the Ruins of Bana’ethal and north of the Shrine of Akir. Everything you need is inside that circle — it is a tight, waterlogged patch of misty woodland rather than a zone-wide scavenger hunt.

Inside that circle, look for the oversized trunks. The nodes hang vertically off the bark, usually low down near the base, and a single tree can carry several of them on different faces. Circling one trunk properly is often worth three or four samples on its own.

How to collect all 8 Lady’s Tear Moss

Accept the quest from Elegael Thornpaw, then enter the trees and follow the highlighted area. Mist limits your view, so use the map marker for navigation instead of relying on landmarks.

At the first sizable trunk, examine the bark instead of the forest floor. The pale, stringy growth becomes obvious when you search at eye level. Click it to collect the first sample and change the counter to 1/8.

Before you leave that tree, walk a full lap around it. Nodes sit on opposite faces and vanish from view entirely if you approach from one angle, which is the single most common reason people wander off thinking a trunk is empty.

Continue around the adjacent trunks, collecting moss until the tracker reaches 8/8. Nodes return and are shared by players, making an empty tree a temporary setback instead of a contest for a rare spawn.

Shadowgale Shrieklings patrol the same stretch of forest. They are level 11 beasts, and they will break your gathering cast, so kill the one closest to your tree before you start clicking nodes.

Turning in Tears of the Lady and confirming completion

The moment the eighth sample lands, two things change on screen. The objective tracker flips to Lady’s Tear Moss (8/8) with an objective complete notification, and the quest marker on the map jumps from the search circle to the turn-in point. If that marker has moved, you have not missed a node.

Retrace your route through the clearing back to Elegael Thornpaw, open the dialogue, and click through Continue and then Complete Quest. The 230 experience and 500 Nightclaw Druids reputation are paid out immediately, and the entry drops off your quest log.
