Pokémon Pokopia: How to Get the Sharpedo Submarine in Bubbly Basin

Track down the free Submarine Kit inside the old Water Gym, or buy one, then build it with Corphish.

The Sharpedo Submarine is a buildable underwater home added with the first part of the Pokopia Expansion Pass, and it lives in the new Bubbly Basin town. To make it, you need a Submarine Kit and a Build Pokemon named Corphish. There are two ways to get the kit: find a free one hidden inside an abandoned Water Pokemon Gym, or buy one outright from the PC store.

Quick answer: Get a Submarine Kit either by buying it for 300 Life Coins at the PC store once Bubbly Basin hits environment level 2, or by using Rock Smash on the orange wall on the east side of Bubbly Basin to reach the old Water Gym and grab the free kit inside. Then befriend Corphish, add 10x Iron Ore, 5x Sea Glass Fragments, and any 3 Pokemon to the build, and wait one real-time hour.

Before you start: bring Corphish and raise the environment level

Corphish is the Build Pokemon that constructs the submarine, so recruiting it is the real prerequisite. You welcome Corphish by making a Sandy Basin Tall Grass Habitat. That habitat needs only one Sandy Basin Tall Grass structure surrounded by four seabed tall grass. You pull up the seagrass with Leafage, the same way you set up Carvanha’s habitat. A good open spot to build it sits right outside the tunnel leading to the Pokemon Center.

The free-kit route also depends on your town’s progress. Bubbly Basin asks you to improve its environment first, just like every other location in Pokopia. Find traces of Pokemon, build the habitats you discover, and give each Pokemon the items it requests. Doing this enough raises the environment level, which you can check at the Pokemon Center PC.

Find the free Submarine Kit in the old Water Gym

The free kit is tucked deep inside an abandoned Water Pokemon Gym on the east side of Bubbly Basin. The path involves several block-breaking abilities, so make sure you can use Rock Smash and can break sand blocks before heading in.

On the east side of the main Bubbly Basin area, look for an orange rock wall. Use Rock Smash to break through it and enter the room behind it.
Follow the room around the left corner. You’ll come to the entrance of the old Water Pokemon Gym.

Go inside and break the sand on the right side of the main room. This opens the way up the stairs.
As soon as you reach the top of the stairs, turn left. You’ll see a hallway ahead of you.

The door at the end of the hall opens into a bedroom with a set of steps going down. At the bottom, break the sand blocks to continue left.
Squeeze through the gap at the bottom of the blocks. You’ll drop into a poolroom with a Poke Ball sitting on the tiles. That Poke Ball holds the Submarine Kit you can build with Corphish.

Buy the Submarine Kit from the PC store instead

If you’d rather skip the dungeon crawl, you can simply purchase a kit. Once Bubbly Basin reaches environment level 2, go to the PC near the Pokemon Center and open the store. The Submarine Kit costs 300 Life Coins. Select it and choose the Purchase option to add it to your inventory.

Build the Sharpedo Submarine with Corphish

With the kit in hand, talk to Corphish and it will happily agree to build the submarine with you. Open your inventory with the X button, select the Submarine Kit, and press A to place the foundation where you want it. Underwater, you don’t need solid ground. Floating blocks automatically appear beneath the structure, so you can anchor it at any height in the water.

To finish the build, gather these materials and Pokemon:

RequirementAmount
Iron Ore10
Sea Glass Fragments5
Build Pokemon (Corphish)1
Any Pokemon3

Add the helper Pokemon by asking them to follow you, interacting with the build kit tray at the front, and selecting their picture on the Pokemon tab to confirm. When all four Pokemon and both materials are in place, press Start Building.

Construction takes one hour of real time. You’ll know it worked when the timer finishes and Corphish is ready to help you complete the finished building. The Sharpedo Submarine then becomes a decorable home with its own interior room, which you can furnish however you like.

Note: if the build won’t start, the most common cause is a missing requirement. You need Corphish specifically assigned as the Build Pokemon, three additional Pokemon on the tray, and the full stack of Iron Ore and Sea Glass Fragments deposited before the Start Building prompt becomes available.
