The next Nightwave brings two fresh weapon Augment mods tied to The Hex’s 1999 arsenal. Prototype Shock Coils goes on the EFV-8 Mars secondary, and Overpressured Rounds goes on the EFV-5 Jupiter primary. Both are earned for free by working through Amir’s Shockwave, which takes over from Nora as the radio host on August 12th.
Quick answer: Prototype Shock Coils (EFV-8 Mars) adds +90% Electric Damage and a 20% base chance per shot to apply an extra Electric status. Overpressured Rounds (EFV-5 Jupiter) makes Buckshot fire harder and farther after a Rifle kill, and restores half your magazine on a Buckshot kill. You unlock both from the Amir’s Shockwave reward track, with Prototype Shock Coils coming first.

Both augment mods at a stat level
Here is exactly what each mod does and the weapon it belongs to. Neither one can be swapped onto a different gun.
| Mod | Weapon | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Prototype Shock Coils | EFV-8 Mars (secondary) | +90% Electric Damage; shots have a 20% base chance to apply an extra Electric status, independent of modded damage types. |
| Overpressured Rounds | EFV-5 Jupiter (primary) | Rifle kills add 120% Falloff Distance and reduce Spread for the next Buckshot attack; Buckshot kills restore 50% of the current magazine. |

Think of Prototype Shock Coils as a beefed-up dual-stat Electricity mod. Instead of the usual 60% you get a flat 90% Electric Damage, which you can combine with another element or leave as pure Electric. On top of that, every shot carries a separate 20% chance to fire off an extra Electric proc that ignores whatever damage types you have modded in.
The wording suggests that 20% figure is a base value, so it should scale up if you stack it with other status chance mods. That makes the extra proc more reliable the more status chance you pile on.
The catch is the weapon itself. The EFV-8 Mars has a low 17% base status chance, so it does not turn into a strong status primer even with this mod. Its alt-fire hits 38% status, but that splat has very limited range. The most practical route is a crit-focused build that leans on Electricity procs for extra damage over time, using mods like Secondary Enervate, Pistol Elementalist, and Primed Convulsion. Conductive Sphere, Gyre’s augment for her first ability, is a natural pairing that can push the gun from middling to respectable.
Overpressured Rounds on the EFV-5 Jupiter
The EFV-5 Jupiter is a Scaldra assault rifle with a shotgun-style Buckshot mode and Corrosive damage baked in. Its base numbers sit in the same neighborhood as the Tenora Prime, with Buckshot performance closer to the Corinth Prime. Overpressured Rounds ties the two firing modes together.
After you score a kill with the Rifle mode, your next Buckshot attack gets +120% Falloff Distance and tighter Spread, so pellets stay effective at longer range. Land a kill with Buckshot and you get half your magazine back. It is a clean handling and feel improvement, but it does not add raw damage anywhere.
That is the weak point compared to other “Rounds” augments. Dizzying Rounds grants 200% status chance, Shrapnel Rounds gives the Marelok 200% Multishot, and Biotic Rounds on the AX-52 boosts damage output. Overpressured Rounds instead trades a mod slot for reduced damage falloff, an effect that stops mattering the moment you step a little closer to a target. Unless it becomes an Exilus mod, it is hard to justify over a straight damage or status option.
Where the mods sit on the reward track
Amir’s Shockwave is a 1999-themed Nightwave with 30 free rewards, and you cannot pay to skip ahead. Both augments are earned by completing Nightwave acts. Prototype Shock Coils appears earlier on the track, with Overpressured Rounds unlocking further along. The full lineup mixes cosmetics with these two mods.

When you can start earning them
Amir’s Shockwave begins on August 12th, around 2:30 p.m. ET, right after Nora’s Mix: Time Tempests wraps at 11 a.m. ET the same day. Any Time Tempests Creds you still hold should be spent before that 11 a.m. cutoff, since leftover Creds convert to Credits afterward. Duplicate protection carries over, so rewards you already own are swapped for Amir’s Shockwave Creds instead.
You will know a mod is yours once it lands in your inventory after claiming the matching reward tier, ready to slot into the EFV-8 Mars or EFV-5 Jupiter in the Arsenal. Neither augment is worth reshaping a build around, but both are free, and the rest of the track leans hard into the 1999 cosmetic theme.
