Palworld: How to Skip the Beam Launcher Overheat Against Xenolord (Ultra)

Cycle five Legendary Beam Launchers and swap them in your inventory to keep firing on Xenolord (Ultra) without waiting for the cooldown.

Cycle five Legendary Beam Launchers and swap them in your inventory to keep firing on Xenolord (Ultra) without waiting for the cooldown.

The Beam Launcher hits hard, but it stops firing after three quick shots and forces a cooldown while it cools off. Against a raid boss with nearly two million HP, that pause is a lot of lost damage. There is a way around it. By carrying multiple launchers and manually swapping them inside your inventory, you can reset the overheat and keep the beams flowing on Xenolord (Ultra).

Quick answer: Equip five Legendary Beam Launchers, fire until one overheats, then cycle to the next equipped launcher. When your equipped launchers are all hot, open your inventory mid-fight and swap the overheated ones for fresh copies. Swapping weapon slots clears the overheat status, so you skip the cooldown and keep firing.

Why the Beam Launcher overheats

The Beam Launcher is a semi-automatic ranged weapon that fires explosive energy bolts with wide splash damage. It has a bottomless magazine, so it never truly runs out of ammo mid-clip, but it overheats after three consecutive shots and needs to cool down before it can fire again. That cooldown is the only thing standing between you and continuous fire.

The overheat state is tied to the launcher you are actively holding. Switching to a different, cool launcher lets you keep shooting, and moving a hot launcher into a fresh inventory slot resets it. That behavior is the whole basis of the trick.

Set up the five-launcher swap

Palworld 1.0 raised your equipped weapon slots to five, which is exactly enough to fill every slot with a Beam Launcher. The idea is to always have a cool launcher ready, and to refresh the used ones without stopping to wait.

Craft several Beam Launchers and equip five of them across all your weapon slots. Legendary copies are ideal because they carry the highest Attack value at 16,800. Keep extra launchers in your inventory as spares to swap in later.

Open fire on the boss and count your shots. After three shots a launcher overheats, so immediately cycle to the next equipped launcher and keep shooting instead of waiting for the cooldown.
Once your equipped launchers are all overheated, open the inventory menu during the fight and swap the hot launchers out for fresh copies. Moving them into new slots resets the overheat status, and you can drop straight back into continuous heavy fire.

Note: This works best while airborne. Flying on a mount like Frostallion lets you dodge Xenolord’s laser sweeps and dark attacks between swaps, so you are not taking hits while you dip into the menu.

What you need to craft Beam Launchers

The Beam Launcher unlocks at Level 80 and costs 5 Technology Points. You build it at an Ancient Workbench, and the higher rarities need their matching schematic held in your inventory. Because the trick asks for five or more launchers, plan your materials around several full crafts.

RarityAttackDurability
Common14,0003,500
Uncommon14,7005,250
Rare15,4007,000
Epic16,10010,500
Legendary16,80014,000

The Legendary version is crafted from 200 Paloxite Ingot, 100 Bio Battery, 20 AI Core, 20 Ancient Civilization Core, and 10 Ancient Civilization Parts, and it requires the Beam Launcher Schematic. The Common version drops to 100 Paloxite Ingot, 50 Bio Battery, 10 AI Core, and 10 Ancient Civilization Core with no schematic needed. Stockpile Paloxite and Ancient Civilization Cores before you commit, since ammo also draws from your Paloxite supply.

Lock down Xenolord (Ultra) with a Moldron Cryst army

Xenolord (Ultra) is a Dark and Dragon boss with 1,964,000 HP on a 10-minute timer, and it summons adds while attacking on a relentless loop. It is doubly weak to Ice and Dragon damage, which is why an Ice-heavy setup pins it down. A custom army of Level 80 Moldron Cryst is used to freeze and distract the boss so you can pour launcher fire into it safely.

Their Ice moves land as super-effective hits and keep the boss frozen and stunned, which buys the time you need to work the launcher swap without getting overwhelmed by the boss’s dark attacks and its adds.

How you know it worked and what you get

You will see the boss health bar drain in large chunks without the usual gaps where you stand around waiting for a launcher to cool. When Xenolord (Ultra) goes down, the on-screen banner reads BOSS ELIMINATED and the fight drops its loot. A clean kill inside the timer pays out endgame materials plus the Ultra-exclusive headgear.

If the swap does not seem to reset a launcher, the most common cause is not actually moving it into a different slot, or trying to fire before the new launcher registers as equipped. Keep spare cool launchers in the bag, swap slots fully, and the overheat clears every time. Stay on your mount between swaps and the Beam Launcher becomes a near-uninterrupted stream of damage against even the Ultra bar.
