Mutations are the fastest way to raise a fighter’s power in Roll Anime to Fight. A mutated anime keeps its base kit but gains a unique look and a large boost to Damage, Health, and Defense, which is often the difference between stalling on a wave and clearing it. As of the Faction Update there are eight mutations, and each one is obtained in a specific way.

Quick answer: Gold and Diamond can appear at any time when you Roll. The other six (Demon, Destroyer, Hollow, Slayer, Cursed, and Astronaut) only appear on the Roll while their matching event is active.

All eight mutations, their stat boosts, and how to get each one

Every mutation applies a fixed percentage bonus on top of the fighter’s base stats. The boosts scale up the rarer the mutation is, so an Astronaut copy of a fighter is far stronger than a Gold copy of the same unit.

MutationDamageHealthDefenseHow to get
Gold+50%+25%+2%Spawns naturally on the Roll
Diamond+125%+50%+3%Spawns naturally on the Roll
Demon+200%+75%+5%Roll during the Demon Mutation Event
Destroyer+275%+100%+6%Roll during the Destroyer Mutation Event
Hollow+350%+125%+6%Roll during the Hollow Mutation Event
Slayer+450%+150%+7%Roll during the Slayer Mutation Event
Cursed+550%+175%+8%Roll during the Cursed Mutation Event
Astronaut+650%+250%+6%Roll during the Astronaut Mutation Event (Admin Abuse only)

Astronaut gives the highest overall boost and is the strongest mutation in the game. If you only count mutations you can reach without an admin present, Cursed is the best you can farm.

When mutation events spawn

There are six mutation events in the Faction Update. Events can start every 15 minutes, on the quarter-hour marks (XX:15, XX:30, XX:45, and XX:00), and each one stays active for only 1 to 2 minutes. That short window is the entire time you have to roll for that mutation, so keep currency and Luck boosts ready before the event begins.

The events cycle in a set order: Demon, then Destroyer, then Hollow, then Slayer, then Cursed. Roll as soon as the event you want appears, because once the timer ends the mutation stops showing up.

How to get the Astronaut mutation

The Astronaut mutation is not part of the normal 15-minute rotation. The Astronaut Mutation Event can only be started by the admins, so it does not occur on its own. To have any chance at an Astronaut fighter, you need to be playing during an Admin Abuse session while an admin triggers the event, then roll while it is active.

How to improve your mutation odds

Mutated fighters always come from a chance on the Roll, so raising that chance is the only reliable way to farm them. Two upgrades directly help.

  • Buy Luck Upgrades to raise the overall chance of rolling a mutated anime.
  • Buy the 2x Mutation Gamepass from the Shop to double your mutation chance.

Activate any Luck boosts right before an event starts so they are running during the short window when the event mutation can actually appear.

Mutation rules to know

A few limits decide how mutations behave, and they matter before you decide to merge or replace a fighter.

  • A fighter can carry only one mutation. The maximum is 1, so there is no way to stack two mutations on the same anime.
  • Fighters already placed on your base do not get mutated when an event goes live. Events only give a chance for mutated units from the Roll or Summon, not from your existing lineup.

Because a mutated copy is much harder to replace than a plain one, hold on to the strong ones and build your team around them. When your army starts falling behind tougher waves, filling those ranks with high-tier mutations like Cursed or a lucky Astronaut pull is the clearest path back to setting new clear records.
