Quick answer: In Crimson Forest, Parting Mists appears as a wooden cross beneath a leafless tree, with a big rock nearby. Descend the misty road from Burial Grounds, pass the Gilded Lotus flower, then step down from a plank ledge beyond a stone lamp at the cliff rim.
Where the Parting Mists bell is
During Chapter 1, find the bell in Crimson Forest along the road past the Burial Grounds bell. Its marker is a wooden cross beneath a leafless tree, with a big rock at its side. It is at the cliff’s base, directly below the ledge where a stone lamp stands. Open the bell menu to see “Parting Mists” in the bottom-left corner.

The trip is a steady walk downhill. Along the way you pass two of Inanis’ Memory Flower petals, see a scene with Illusion of Inanis, and later see her clear the mist.

Illusion of Inanis at the stone lamp
Illusion of Inanis remarks that Soul moves through the deadly forest as calmly as someone strolling along a garden path. She says she created the Realm of Mirage, between the Waking Realm and the Discordance, beyond Zuo Shang’s reach. She cannot take Soul into it herself, but believes the pipa could help. Though she senses something farther ahead, she can barely enter the Waking Realm. She sends Soul onward and asks him to safeguard the Chord for her; Soul promises to do what he can.
The talk menu then offers “Ask about the road” and “Train Abilities”. Once you have finished a talk, “Leave” joins the list.

- “Ask about the road”: She knows the forest’s most shadowed depths, warped by powerful Phantom Arts. She crafted the pipa herself, and its destruction gave rise to this illusion of her. She offers to dispel the mist ahead, warning that a mistake could leave Soul trapped forever. Soul proceeds anyway, and she laughs at his lack of fear toward either heaven or earth.
- “Train Abilities”: She says Remnant Dust can return Soul’s abilities, which he lost when his heart was pierced. She also tells of a tree that absorbed Sha-Chi and flesh from the Mandate and the transcended, causing its trunk to twist into a human face. She thinks the Sha-Chi in the tree might let Soul reclaim something he lost. This points to the Heart of the Banyan tale about the Human-Faced Banyan Trees. No ability screen appears, and the talk menu returns.
What the Parting Mists bell unlocks
Ringing the bell reveals the area on the Crimson Forest map under the label “Parting Mists”. At this point, the region’s Map Completion reads “33%”.

The bell menu has six entries, in order: Traverse, then Upgrade Equipment, then Store, then Train Abilities, then Save, and then Leave. Resting replenishes your health and heals you. Parting Mists is added as a Traverse destination, letting you return here directly from other bells.
