Genshin Impact: How to Remove the Grapple in Gunfire in the Silent Lands

During the Gunfire in the Silent Lands quest in Genshin Impact, the Traveler gets stuck on a floating train carriage inside the Shadow Realm and can’t reach the far side. The way forward is to remove the grapple that the Grappling Gun is latched onto, which forces the machine to reposition the whole group. The action happens through the Prime Ice Construct menu, opened with your Fab-Vision.

Quick answer: Open the Prime Ice Construct menu (T on PC, L1 + Square on PlayStation, LB + X on Xbox, or the on-screen button on mobile), hover the cursor over the grapple on the train carriage, and select Remove.

Where the grapple appears in Gunfire in the Silent Lands

The moment shows up after you meet Alyosha, summon the train with the Eye of Graeae, and drive it toward any destination. The choice of stop doesn’t matter, because the train drops you into the Shadow Realm regardless. Once there, you reunite with the Eye of Graeae, receive a special outfit and weapon, and switch into the Third-person Shooter (TPS) mode.

In TPS mode you can’t swap characters or set up a team, and your movement is limited. You can still jump but you can’t climb, and you gain new options like taking cover and sliding. Follow the quest markers until the Traveler is stuck on the carriage and needs to cross to the other side. That is where the grapple has to come off.

Once the grapple is gone, the Grappling Gun has to look for a new grapple to hold. It first reaches for one on a nearby carriage, but that grapple breaks right away. As a result, the machine carries the whole group over to the spot you need to reach, moving the quest forward on its own.

Note: The Manage Prime Ice Construct feature won’t work here. While you’re inside the Shadow Realm, your location doesn’t show up on the map, so you’re limited to removing the grapple through the standard Fab-Vision menu.
