The PS5 listing offers a standard release and a Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe bundle adds the 2026 Field Supplies, an NVA Boat Crew Uniform, an ANZAC and NVA pack scheduled for Q3 2026, and a Green Berets and Navy SEAL pack scheduled for Q4 2026. Pre-orders across editions include a US Boat Crew Uniform. The game supports up to 99 players online and requires PS Plus for multiplayer.

Download size and setup

The official system requirements list a storage need of 30GB. Console file sizes have not been detailed, but keeping roughly 40GB of free space should comfortably cover the install plus any day-one patch. The game runs on Unreal Engine 5 and is demanding enough that a capable setup is worth having ready before launch.

Tip: Pre-installing on PS5 and Xbox lets the download and any launch update finish overnight, so you can jump in the moment servers unlock rather than waiting on a large download.

What launches on day one

At release, players pick a side between the North Vietnamese Army and the US Armed Forces and fill one of 17 specialized roles inside a 50-strong team split into multiple squads. Roles span command, infantry, recon, armour, mortar, and, for the US only, helicopter units, so squads coordinate through a chain of command to hit objectives.

The launch content covers 6 large-scale maps modeled on real locations. Vehicles include fully operational US helicopters for fire support and supply drops, plus heavily armed patrol boats that let both sides fight across Vietnam’s river network. The NVA can build tunnel systems for surprise attacks, and movement additions such as swimming, climbing, fast crawling, and dragging downed teammates out of fire round out the combat.

Modes at release include Warfare, a 50v50 tug-of-war over five sectors, and Offensive, which splits teams into attackers and defenders, alongside rotating alternate modes that adjust the battlefield rules.

Why the date moved

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam was first shown at Gamescom 2025 and originally targeted a June 18, 2026 release. After the open beta weekend in late May, which peaked at roughly 24,000 concurrent players on Steam, the teams pushed the launch to August 13 to work through issues found in that test and in internal PC and console playtests. That August 13 window is the current confirmed date, landing just under a year after the game’s reveal.
