Note: The show may include licensed music that Sony does not control, which can affect co-streams or saved video-on-demand archives. If you plan to keep a recording or repost clips, leaving out any copyrighted music reduces the risk of the archive being blocked.

What the State of Play will show

The event runs for close to 20 minutes and focuses on new gameplay rather than a recap. Expect a deeper breakdown of the game’s combat systems, player build options, and the world of the Phantom World, along with never-before-seen characters tied to the main story.

You play as Soul, and the recent pre-order trailer set up moments like fighting atop a speeding wagon and clashing with former allies such as The Hunt. Donnie Yen has served as creative consultant since 2023 and also performs facial and motion capture for Mó Yuan, Soul’s father. The game’s action leans on its self-described “kungfupunk” style, blending traditional wuxia with fantasy and folk horror.

Pre-orders and launch date

Phantom Blade Zero launches October 29, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC. Pre-orders are live now, and pre-ordering grants an early unlock of the Treasure Basin accessory and the Legacy outfit. Both items can also be earned through normal in-game progression, so pre-ordering only advances when you get them.

The Deluxe Edition adds two exclusive outfits, Wulin Legend and Blood-Steel Form, plus a digital artbook and soundtrack. You can pick your platform and edition on the official Phantom Blade Zero page, which links out to the PS5, Steam, and Epic Games Store listings.

If you want to catch the reveal as it happens, set a reminder for 7:00 PM PT on August 17 and open the PlayStation YouTube or Twitch channel shortly before the start.
