World Tree Holy Water became a Pal Expedition reward in Palworld 1.0.3, and only two destinations produce it. One is the Normal-tier “World Tree Subterranean City Ruins,” the other is the Hard-tier “The World Tree’s Forbidden Area.” Both drop the same material, but they ask for very different investments and pay out very different bonus loot.
Quick answer: Send Pals to the Normal “World Tree Subterranean City Ruins” expedition. It reaches the 1348% reward tier with about 40 maxed-out Pals, finishes in roughly 39 minutes, and yields around 189 Holy Water plus Giant Pal Souls, making it the highest-value farm per Pal you own.

The two Holy Water expeditions compared
Both runs are unlocked through the Pal Expedition Station and scale their payout with the total firepower of the Pals you dispatch. The numbers below assume you push each run to the 1348% reward multiplier, which is the practical cap for maxing output.
| Detail | Subterranean City Ruins (Normal) | Forbidden Area (Hard) |
|---|---|---|
| Risk level | High | Highest |
| Base duration | 01:00:00 | 02:00:00 |
| Recommended firepower | 851,000 | 2,100,000 |
| Holy Water at 1348% | ~189 | ~472 |
| Maxed Pals needed | ~40 | ~98–100 |
| Actual run time (maxed) | ~39 min | ~78 min |
| Holy Water per minute | ~4.8 | ~5.4–6 |
The Hard run does produce more Holy Water per trip and slightly more per minute. The catch is the entry cost. Reaching its reward cap requires close to a full roster of 98 to 100 fully maxed Pals, more than double what the Normal run asks for.

The decision comes down to how many strong Pals you actually have. Most players cannot field two separate armies of 40+ maxed Pals, so the Normal expedition lets you hit the top reward tier with a roster that is realistic to build and condense.
The per-minute rates are close enough that the Hard run’s higher throughput does not offset its steep requirement. When the same team can be rotated more often on a cheaper run, the Normal expedition ends up producing Holy Water more consistently across a play session.
Secondary loot tips the balance further. The Normal run averages around 135 Giant Pal Souls per trip along with Mammorest Meat and Ancient Spheres. The Hard run instead averages about 74 Dog Coins plus high-tier Ancient Relics. Giant Pal Souls are a heavily used endgame resource, which makes the Normal payout more broadly useful.
| Expedition | Notable secondary rewards |
|---|---|
| Subterranean City Ruins (Normal) | ~135 Giant Pal Souls, Mammorest Meat, Ancient Spheres, Radiant Gems, Ancient Relics, Paloxite |
| Forbidden Area (Hard) | ~74 Dog Coins, high-tier Ancient Relics |

How to hit the 1348% reward tier
Reward percentage rises as the combined firepower of your dispatched Pals climbs past the recommended figure. To reliably maximize a run, follow the same priorities that make any expedition efficient.
Note: The Forbidden Area caps its dispatch slots at 100 Pals. If your total firepower falls short of 2,100,000, the run still starts, but it will not reach the full 1348% multiplier and its Holy Water yield drops accordingly.

Verifying your Holy Water payout
Once a run completes, the expedition results screen lists every reward, including the World Tree Holy Water stack. A maxed Normal run should return close to 189 units alongside the Giant Pal Souls and other bonus drops. If the count comes in far lower, the reward multiplier was below 1348%, which means your dispatched firepower did not clear the recommended threshold.
Holy Water feeds directly into endgame crafting, from Paloxite Ingots and Awakening Crystals to the Drone Launcher and several ancient buildings, so a steady Normal-run rotation keeps that pipeline stocked without draining your entire Pal army into a single Hard expedition.
