Palworld: How to Find and Use Ancient Civilization Cores

Every reliable source for this rare late-game material, plus the recipes that actually consume it.

Every reliable source for this rare late-game material, plus the recipes that actually consume it.

Ancient Civilization Cores are one of Palworld’s rarest late-game materials, and they gate a huge chunk of endgame crafting. You cannot mine them, buy them from a merchant, or make them at a workbench. Every Core comes from a fight, a Pal Expedition, a chest, or the Ancient Relic Recycler.

Quick answer: Summon and defeat Bellanoir, Bellanoir Libero, or Blazamut Ryu at a Summoning Altar for a guaranteed Core drop, run high-tier Pal Expeditions in the background, and loot the main chest on a Level 55+ Rayne Syndicate Oil Rig.

Ancient Civilization Core vs Ancient Civilization Parts

These two materials share almost the same name, but they are not interchangeable. If a recipe asks for Cores, Parts will not fill the slot, no matter how many you have. Cores show up once you begin unlocking the “Ancient” technology tree at the higher levels.

The quickest way to tell them apart is the source. Parts drop from ordinary Alpha Pals and mid-game activities, while Cores are tied to raids, Oil Rigs, and endgame expeditions. Defeating regular Alpha Pals will never solve a Core shortage.

Farm Cores from raid bosses (guaranteed drops)

Raid bosses are the most reliable active source. The Pals that reliably drop Ancient Civilization Cores on defeat are Bellanoir, Bellanoir Libero, and Blazamut Ryu. You summon them at a Summoning Altar using a completed Slab, and each fight can be repeated for as long as you have Slabs on hand.

Explore high-level dungeons and open their final reward chests to collect matching Slab fragments for the boss you want.
Combine the fragments into a completed Slab at a workbench.
Build a Summoning Altar in a separate, open combat base away from your production lines and storage. Raid bosses use large area attacks and will destroy nearby structures.
Insert the Slab to start the raid, then defeat the boss before the timer runs out to claim your Cores and other rewards.

Start with standard Bellanoir and move up to Bellanoir Libero and Blazamut Ryu as your team gets stronger. Harder bosses hand out larger Core bundles alongside extra loot such as edible items, lotuses, and accessories. Collect several completed Slabs before a session so you can run multiple fights without returning to dungeon duty each time.

Note: A basic raid base only needs a Palbox, a Summoning Altar, and open ground. Keeping the area clear also stops your combat Pals from getting stuck on walls and objects during the fight.

Run Pal Expeditions for passive Cores

Pal Expeditions are the best hands-off method. Once you build the Pal Expedition Station and send Pals out, they return with rewards automatically. Not every route rewards Cores, so target the higher-tier ones. Cores become available from the Astral Frost Cavern onward, which requires clearing the PAL Genetic Research Unit Tower to unlock.

Core counts climb as expedition difficulty rises. Useful routes to chase include the Frozen Cave of the Snow Mountain, the Dark Cave of Feybreak, and Ancient Feybreak Remains (Hard). Always check the reward preview before assigning a team, since it lists exactly what a route can return.

To pull better rewards, boost your Pals’ Expedition Firepower with the Pal Condenser before assigning them, and make sure a Pal is actually staffed on the station so runs do not slow to free-time only. Claim finished rewards and restart the expedition immediately to keep downtime low.

Loot Level 55+ Oil Rigs

The Rayne Syndicate Oil Rig is a strong supplemental source. It is a Level 55 stronghold floating out at sea, south-east of the Marsh Island fast travel point. The main chest can drop roughly one to five Cores per run, though it is not guaranteed on every open.

You do not need to clear the whole rig. Approach low across the water or on a swimming mount to avoid the anti-air defenses, clear the enemies around the main chest and your escape path, grab the loot, then leave. Oil Rigs also drop other endgame materials, so a run stays worthwhile even when the chest holds no Cores.

Mass-produce Cores with the Ancient Relic Recycler

Once you reach the World Tree and hit Level 74, the Ancient Relic Recycler becomes the fastest long-term supply. It converts Ancient Relics collected in the World Tree zone into materials, including Ancient Civilization Cores in bulk. Unlocking it costs 3 Technology Points, and building it requires 50 Paloxite Ingot, 50 Mythical Wood, 30 Ancient Civilization Parts, and 20 Ancient Civilization Cores.

Yes, the machine that makes Cores costs 20 Cores to build. It is a heavy upfront investment, but it pays off as your steadiest source afterward. The Recycler also needs a Power Generator and an assigned Pal to run.

To use it, gather Ancient Relics by fighting Pals anywhere in the World Tree biome, then load the Relics and World Tree Holy Water into the Recycler and assign a Pal with Handiwork suitability. Select Acquire when processing finishes. A strong Handiwork Pal speeds up each batch. You do not need to hold back rarer Relics; feed the machine whatever you have, since more Relics processed means more Cores over time.

What Ancient Civilization Cores are used for

Cores unlock and craft a wide range of endgame technology, from shields and incubators to weapons and base machines. The most far-reaching use is the AI Core, a material crafted at the Advanced Workshop that then feeds dozens of top-tier recipes such as the Plasma Rifle, Beam Launcher, Drone Launcher, Wing Pack, and the Ancient armor sets.

Shields are the biggest single drain, so treat Cores as a long-term project rather than something to spend the moment a recipe unlocks. Here are key items that require Cores directly, with their unlock level and Core cost.

A full endgame build can easily burn well over 100 Cores, with the shields alone eating 60. Prioritize based on how you play. Breeding-focused players benefit most from the incubators, while combat-focused players get more immediate value from shields, weapon modules, and Ability Glasses.

The most efficient farming loop

Combining passive and active methods removes downtime. Start an expedition, then run a raid boss while the timer counts down. Claim the expedition rewards when you return, restart it immediately, and slot in an Oil Rig run between boss cooldowns. Once you reach Level 74, the Ancient Relic Recycler layers on top of all of this as your bulk supply.

Consistency beats chasing the single biggest reward. A boss you can clear in five minutes without wiping is a better farming target than one that takes twenty minutes and drains your entire ammo supply. Build your stockpile early, and the endgame tech tree stops feeling like a wall.
