Wonderland, the ScaryPlay horror experience that opened to the public in August after more than two years in development, has gone straight from its launch into a steady run of content updates. The public release event has wrapped, and two fresh drops are already lined up: a monster-focused update at the end of August and a character-progression overhaul in early September.
Built by the ScaryPlay group, Wonderland leans on jumpscares, flashing lights and heavy sound design rather than a traditional obby or simulator loop. New Monsters & More — the next update (August 28)
The New Monsters update is the nearest thing on the calendar. It begins Friday, August 28 at 6:00 PM ET (10:00 PM UTC) and runs into the early hours of Tuesday, September 1. According to the developer’s own notes, it adds two new enemies, new hiding spots, a revamped exit and reworked Lumins, alongside broader balancing and bug fixes. It is comfortably the most anticipated of the two upcoming drops, with more than 8,000 players marking interest ahead of launch.
Skilltrees & Upgrades (September 4)
About a week later, Skilltrees adds a character-progression layer to Wonderland. The developer frames it around upgrading your character and pushing to become the strongest, which points to persistent upgrades rather than a one-off cosmetic event. It starts Friday, September 4 at 4:00 PM ET (8:00 PM UTC) and runs into the early hours of Tuesday, September 8, with over 6,000 players interested so far.
The Wonderland release (recently ended)
Wonderland’s public launch was by far its biggest moment to date. The release event ran from Friday, August 14 at 3:00 PM ET through the early hours of Saturday, August 22, and drew well over 100,000 interested players — roughly ten times the crowd either of the follow-up updates has gathered. It has now ended, but the game itself stays open, and the schedule has shifted to the post-launch content drops above.
