Traits are the fastest way to turn an ordinary tower into a carry in Anime Origins. Each one attaches a set of stat bonuses to a single unit, and the higher rarities stack a passive ability on top. Roll the right Trait onto a strong unit and it can clear stages that would otherwise stall out.
Quick answer: Apply Traits at the Trait Reroll station inside the Evolve building using Trait Rerolls. There are 23 Traits across five rarities, and Immortal (Secret, 0.1%) is the best, giving +200% Damage plus a Wave 10 clear effect.
Where Traits come from and what you need
Traits are rolled, not bought. You spend Trait Rerolls at the Trait Reroll station, which sits inside the Evolve building in the hub area. Every reroll swaps a unit’s current Trait for a new random one, so the currency itself is the gate.
You earn Trait Rerolls by clearing Story stages, finishing Challenge mode stages, completing quests, and redeeming codes. Because they take time to accumulate, it is worth deciding which unit you actually want to invest in before you start spending.
Each unit can store two Traits at once, but only one can be active at a time. That gives you a backup slot, so you can hold a solid Trait while gambling for a better one.

Trait rarity odds
Every reroll first lands on a rarity, then picks a Trait from within that pool. Higher rarities are rarer but carry stronger stats and better passives. These are the cumulative chances for each tier.
| Rarity | Cumulative chance |
|---|---|
| Rare | 50% |
| Epic | 30% |
| Legendary | 9% |
| Mythic | 4.05% |
| Secret | 0.1% |
Rare, Epic, and Legendary Traits
These lower tiers are pure stat bonuses with no passives. They fill out early rerolls and give you something usable while you chase Mythic rolls. The percentage next to each Trait is its chance within its own rarity pool.
| Trait | Bonus | Rarity (pool rate) |
|---|---|---|
| Reach I | +5% Range | Rare (26%) |
| Fury I | +5% Damage | Rare (26%) |
| Haste I | -5% Cooldown | Rare (26%) |
| Reach II | +10% Range | Rare (7.34%) |
| Fury II | +10% Damage | Rare (7.33%) |
| Haste II | -7.5% Cooldown | Rare (7.33%) |
| Reach III | +15% Range | Epic (25%) |
| Fury III | +15% Damage | Epic (25%) |
| Haste III | -12.5% Cooldown | Epic (25%) |
| Head Hunter | +20% Crit Chance, +25% Crit Damage | Epic (25%) |
| Hawkeye | +30% Range | Legendary (25%) |
| Scholar | +50% EXP | Legendary (25%) |
| Ace | +10% Damage, -5% Cooldown, +10% Range | Legendary (20%) |
| Nimble | -20% Cooldown | Legendary (18.5%) |
| Looting | +20% Income | Legendary (11.5%) |
Mythic and Secret Traits
The top two rarities are where the meta lives. Every Mythic Trait mixes strong stats with a passive, and each has a pity counter that guarantees the roll after enough attempts. Secret is a single Trait, Immortal, which sits at the very top.
| Trait | Effect | Pool rate / Pity |
|---|---|---|
| Hustler | +15% Range, +30% Income | 22% |
| Ascendant | +35% Boss Damage, +10% Damage, +10% Range | 19% / 325 |
| Decay | +40% DoT Damage, -10% Cooldown, +10% Range | 16.5% / 425 |
| Stride | -10% Damage, -10% Cooldown, +5% Range; attacks build Tempo for -2% Cooldown per stack up to -20%, and +10% Range at max stacks; resets after 5 seconds without attacking | 14.5% |
| Rupture | +30% Crit Chance, +35% Crit Damage | 12.5% / 550 |
| Joker | +5% Damage, -5% Cooldown, +5% Range; each wave, every stat is randomly changed by 0% to 25% and does not carry over | 11.4% / 700 |
| Overseer | +20% Damage, -5% Cooldown, +10% Range; attacks deal bonus True Damage equal to 30% of damage dealt | 4.1% / 900 |
| Immortal (Secret) | +200% Damage, -15% Cooldown, +20% Range, +25% Income, Placement Limit 1; on 0 base stocks it restores base power, instantly kills nearby non-boss enemies, and knocks back and slows others; activates once per match after Wave 10 | 100% in pool / 1,300 |
Note: only one unit per team can hold Immortal, and that unit is capped at a single placement. If you land it on a premium carry, you are effectively done rerolling that unit.
Which Traits to prioritize
Immortal is the best Trait in the game outright, thanks to the +200% Damage and its match-changing passive. Below it, Overseer is the safest premium roll for a general damage dealer because it adds Damage, Cooldown, and Range with no build requirement, plus 30% bonus True Damage.
After that, the strongest picks depend on the unit. Rupture is excellent on crit-focused carries, Decay is the go-to for damage-over-time units, and Ascendant is the boss-killing option. If you just want reliable all-round value on any unit, Ace covers Damage, Cooldown, and Range at Legendary rarity.
Save your Trait Rerolls for units you actually plan to keep in your main loadout. If a unit already holds a Trait that matches its role, hold it rather than gambling for a marginal upgrade, since the reroll currency is far harder to replace than a decent roll.
