Mine a Planet Beginner Guide: Best Upgrades and Fast Progression on Roblox

Where to spend your first cash, which drones to keep, and when to evolve your planet for richer ore.

Where to spend your first cash, which drones to keep, and when to evolve your planet for richer ore.

Mine a Planet is an idle mining game on Roblox from Skydog Games where a fleet of laser drones chips apart a giant voxel planet, hauls the ore back to base, and turns it into cash while you spend that cash on upgrades. The whole game runs on one loop, and beginners who understand where that loop bottlenecks progress far faster than players who buy a little of everything.

Quick answer: Redeem the active codes, roll free drones until you have strong units in every dock platform, fix whichever fleet stat is stalling you (Mining Power, Cargo, or Drone Speed), then evolve the planet only when your cash income flattens.

Redeem active codes before spending anything

Codes hand out free consumables and a time skip that give a new save a real head start, so enter them before you grind your first hour. Open Settings with the gear icon at the top-right, paste each code into the codes field, and confirm the reward lands in your inventory.

CodeReward
DRONES1 Drone Pack
UPDATE73 Strong Batteries
BETABETA1 Super Alien Treat
DISCORD5-minute time skip

Codes like these can expire quickly, so redeem them the moment you load in rather than saving them. You can launch the game from the official Mine a Planet Roblox page.

Note: Do not burn Strong Batteries or the Super Alien Treat on starter drones. Save them for high-stat units you plan to keep long term.

The core loop that drives all your progress

Everything in the game feeds one cycle. Drones mine blocks off the voxel planet, carry the ore to the collection station, and convert it to cash. You then reinvest that cash into rolling and upgrading drones or into evolving the planet for more valuable ore.

The fleet keeps mining even after you log off, so idle income runs 24/7. Because of that, the single best thing you can do is keep every unlocked dock platform filled with your strongest available drone. An empty slot is income you are throwing away every second you play or idle.

Upgrade order for a fresh account

The fastest engine for a new player is more drones and more platforms to seat them, because each extra drone is another stream of passive money. After that, spend on whichever stat is actually holding your fleet back rather than raising everything evenly.

PriorityUpgradeWhy it comes here
1Drone Rolls / Drone LuckEvery roll is another shot at a stronger drone that earns for the rest of your run
2Dock PlatformsEach platform seats one more active drone, so more drones means more income
3Fleet bottleneck statRaise Mining Power, Cargo, or Drone Speed depending on what is stalling you
4Planet UpgradeRaises the value of the ore you mine once income is stable
5Equipment (Jetpack, Laser Pistol)Improves movement, collection, and manual mining

The most common early mistake is spreading money evenly across everything. Focused spending on rolls and platforms builds a much smoother early game than a little of every upgrade. Dock Storage matters far less if you play actively and sell ore regularly, so it rarely deserves early cash.

Drone stats matter more than rarity

Rolling is free and unlimited from the roll machine, and rarer drones have very low spawn rates that reach up to 1 in 25 trillion. When you compare drones, read the actual numbers, not the rarity color. A balanced lower-rarity drone often outmines a rare one with lopsided stats.

StatWhat it doesWhen it matters most
Mining PowerIncreases damage to voxel blocksEarly game and right after a planet evolution
Cargo CapacityRaises how much ore a drone carries per tripWhen Mining Power is high and drones fill up fast
Drone SpeedIncreases travel speed between ore and the stationOn larger evolved planets where trips get long

Deploy your best units and invest permanent upgrades into your top drones only, not the whole roster evenly. One well-upgraded drone quietly out-earns a shelf of neglected ones. When you roll something clearly stronger, recall the old drone and put the upgrade in its slot.

Tip: If you are waiting to afford an expensive drone, do not go fully idle. A server reset can empty the roll pad, so stay active in the session to keep your chance.

When to evolve your planet

Planet evolution is the main way to scale earnings. Each evolution rebuilds the world and unlocks higher-tier ores that sell for far more, moving you up the ore chain from Azurite to Aurum, Radex, and beyond. The trade-off is that evolving resets your current planet’s structure.

Evolve only when your fleet already tears through the current blocks easily and your cash gains have flattened from diminishing returns on local upgrades. Evolving on impulse before that point wastes progress. Keep a small cash reserve before you evolve so you can fund a few instant upgrades on the richer ore right away.

Free progress from the index, gifts, and events

Several systems hand out value that costs no cash, and beginners skip them too often. The index gives permanent cash bonuses as you discover new drones, so open it whenever you unlock something new and claim the reward.

Drones discoveredPermanent cash bonus
25%+5% Cash
50%+10% Cash
75%+15% Cash
90%+20% Cash
100%+25% Cash

Claim your Playtime Rewards and gifts every session, since completing them can drop high-tier drones. Watch for multiplier events too, such as an X2 or X4 Money boost, and time active play around them.

During Solar Flare and UFO weather, fly around collecting UFO Shards. Bank ten and they convert into a UFO Token, which you spend at the UFO Token Prizes machine on alien balls. A faster jetpack helps a lot here, because other players are chasing the same shards.

Aliens and platform bonuses

Aliens act as companions that boost your whole operation. You get them from shiny relics you place in the center area, or by catching wild ones with alien balls after damaging them to full catch condition.

Place your strongest alien on a platform to activate its bonus, which can raise drone speed, mining speed, or income. Then upgrade that platform to push the multiplier higher over time. Hold onto rare captures and build around them instead of replacing them casually.

First-session checklist

Redeem DRONES, UPDATE7, BETABETA, and DISCORD from the Settings menu, then claim your playtime and daily rewards.
Open your free Drone Pack, then roll at the machine until you have strong units. Equip your highest-stat drones in every active slot.
Unlock more dock platforms so more drones mine at once, and keep every slot filled.
Watch your drones and fix the bottleneck. Buy Mining Power if blocks break slowly, Cargo if drones fill up before finishing a vein, or Drone Speed if they spend most of their time flying.
Shoot ores yourself while the drones work to stack extra cash, then evolve the planet once your income flattens.

You will know the loop is working when your cash climbs steadily even while idle, the index keeps handing you percentage bonuses, and each planet evolution unlocks a higher ore tier that visibly raises income per block. Keep your best drones docked before you log off, and the fleet will hand you a pile of idle cash the next time you return.
