Faithful’s Shelter is one of the beacons buried inside the Unfound Path, the final area of Mortal Shell 2. It guards a tendril that blocks the central platform, and the thing standing between you and that tendril is the Malborn Offspring, a two-phase boss that hits harder and reads worse than most enemies you have faced up to this point.
Quick answer: Cleanse the Faithful’s Shelter beacon by fighting through its dungeon and defeating the Malborn Offspring. Clearing this beacon destroys one of the three tendrils in the Unfound Path. Once the Obsidian Vault (The Monolith) and Bridge of Procession (Orrem) tendrils are also gone, the central platform opens and only Zmey the Unbidden remains.

Where Faithful’s Shelter sits in the Unfound Path
The Unfound Path is a single, sealed dungeon rather than an open region. The large platform in the middle is locked off by default. To reach it, you explore three separate segments, each ending in a tendril you can destroy, and each tendril is protected by a major boss.
Faithful’s Shelter is the segment that holds the Malborn Offspring. The other two are the Obsidian Vault, guarded by The Monolith, and the Bridge of Procession, guarded by Orrem. You can take these three in any order, but all three tendrils must fall before the finale unlocks.
| Unfound Path segment | Boss |
|---|---|
| Faithful’s Shelter | Malborn Offspring |
| Obsidian Vault | The Monolith |
| Bridge of Procession | Orrem, the Discarded Golem / Orrem, the Reclaimed |
| Central platform (final) | Zmey the Unbidden |

The Unfound Path only becomes available once you have gathered enough Ovum from the campaign’s six Corrupted Gates. You need more than 168 Ovum total, which is the payoff for cleansing all six main-boss beacons across Fainweald and the Ruins of Mammon.
To open the path, return to Marrow Keep and speak to the NPC in the room with the Gloom Siphon. That interaction unlocks the route to the final area. If you pursued a lot of optional content, you may cross 168 Ovum before finishing the last Corrupted Gate, in which case you can head to the Unfound Path early.
Before you drop into Faithful’s Shelter, treat the beacon like any other rest point. Cleansing a beacon saves your progress and restores Health and Resolve, and it respawns nearby enemies. Come in with your flasks topped up, since the boss ahead is the toughest of the three tendril guardians.
Beating the Malborn Offspring
The Malborn Offspring is a two-phase fight, and it is the hardest encounter in this part of the Unfound Path. The problem is not raw damage so much as timing. Most of its sequences are Cleaving Combos of five or six chained hits, and each swing varies in animation speed and delay, so the rhythm keeps shifting mid-string.

Note: Some boss arenas in Mortal Shell 2 let you spend 1x Glimpse to summon a spectral shell ally for the fight. If that option appears here, it is a straightforward way to split the boss’s attention.
Cleansing the beacon and knowing it worked
Defeating the Malborn Offspring lets you cleanse the Faithful’s Shelter beacon and claim its Ova. You will know the segment is complete when the beacon turns from corrupted to cleansed, the tendril in that area is destroyed, and your progress saves at the beacon.
A cleansed beacon also works as a fast travel point through Mether’s Breath and refills Health and Resolve, so it doubles as a safe staging spot before you tackle the next tendril. If the central platform is still sealed after this fight, that is expected. It only opens once all three tendrils are down.

Night Mode and difficulty
Night Mode is Mortal Shell 2’s optional difficulty increase. It unlocks in Fainweald after you defeat the Great Arbiter of Flesh, near the Widow’s Overlook area. Once available, it raises the challenge of the world’s encounters.
If you are clearing Faithful’s Shelter with Night Mode active, the Malborn Offspring will be even less forgiving, so the same discipline matters more. Read the staggered combos, punish only the recovery, and keep enough healing in reserve for the second phase. If the fight is stonewalling you, turning Night Mode off before the encounter is a valid way to get through the tendril.
After the tendrils fall: Zmey the Unbidden
With the Faithful’s Shelter, Obsidian Vault, and Bridge of Procession tendrils all destroyed, the central platform in the Unfound Path becomes reachable. Zmey the Unbidden waits there as the final boss, and beating it ends the main path through the game.
One thing worth knowing before you head in: defeating the final boss does not immediately roll credits. You keep your current save and can continue exploring in free-roam, which means any beacons you skipped, including this one, can still be found and cleansed afterward. You choose when to see the credits and start New Game Plus.
