Moonlight Peaks: How to Get the Gramophone from The Broken Lamp

Patch 1.2.3 lets you buy the red Gramophone outright, so growing a Muse Tree no longer waits on a lucky shop roll.

Patch 1.2.3 lets you buy the red Gramophone outright, so growing a Muse Tree no longer waits on a lucky shop roll.

The Gramophone is a music-playing decoration in Moonlight Peaks, and it does one job that matters for farming: it powers the growth of the Muse Tree. For a long time, getting one came down to luck, since it only appeared as a random shop item. That changed with Patch 1.2.3, released on August 20, 2026, which added a fixed way to buy it.

Quick answer: Buy the red Gramophone from Samael at The Broken Lamp for 2,000 coins. Open his shop, go to the furniture tab, and scroll to the bottom of the list.

Buy the red Gramophone at The Broken Lamp

Since Patch 1.2.3, the red Gramophone is a permanent stock item at The Broken Lamp for 2,000 coins. This is the reliable route. You no longer have to wait for the item to cycle into a shop, so you can plan the purchase around your coin count instead of hoping for a lucky day.

Before the patch, the only option was to wait for the Gramophone to show up in the Howling Hammer’s rotating stock or with Yabbis, then buy it for 1,000 coins. That listing was a random spawn and could take several seasons to appear, which held back anyone trying to grow a Muse Tree in the meantime.

How to reach The Broken Lamp and open Samael’s shop

The Broken Lamp is Samael’s bar on the east side of town. It sits at the very edge of the map, down by the docks in the southeast corner of the main Moonlight Peaks area.

Head into the main Moonlight Peaks area and walk all the way down toward the docks. The building right at the southeast edge of town is The Broken Lamp.
Talk to Samael while the bar is open to bring up the buying menu. If he is closed, come back during his open hours.
Open the furniture tab and scroll to the bottom of the listings. The Gramophone sits at the end of the list. Confirm the purchase once you have 2,000 coins.

Note: If you have the Twilight Catacombs unlocked, you can use them as a shortcut to reach The Broken Lamp faster than walking across town.

Other Gramophone colors still come from the Howling Hammer

Only the red variant has a guaranteed price at The Broken Lamp. The other color variations remain a random spawn at the Howling Hammer, so you will need to check that shop’s stock when it is open if you want a specific look. For growth purposes, though, the color does not matter, so the red Gramophone from Samael is enough.

How to use the Gramophone with the Muse Tree

The Gramophone exists mainly to grow the Muse Tree, the game’s one magic tree. A Muse Tree will not progress from seed to sprout without music playing next to it. The tree seeds cost 6,000 coins each from Luna’s Seed Stand, take 25 days to grow, and only produce fruit in spring and winter. Once you have the Gramophone, the setup is short.

Plant the Muse Tree anywhere on your farm. Trees do not need to be dug in with a shovel or watered.
Place the Gramophone right next to the tree.
Interact with the Gramophone to turn it on and make sure the music is actually playing. The sound is what feeds the seed and sprout as they grow.

How to confirm it’s working

You will know the Gramophone is doing its job when the Muse Tree dances back and forth to the music. Check on it each in-game day. If the tree is not swaying, the music has stopped, and growth pauses until it plays again.

If the tree isn’t dancing, turn the Gramophone off and back on to restart the music. Once it is dancing again, the Muse Tree will keep growing on schedule toward its spring and winter harvest of Muse Nuts.
