Fortnite: How to Open the Secret Mega Maze Vault in Chapter 7 Season 4

Track down the roaming Temple Vault Key inside the shifting maze, then use it at the pedestal to crack open the hidden loot room.

Mega Maze hides one of the more rewarding secret vaults in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override. The catch is that the key you need doesn’t sit in a chest. It moves through the maze on its own, and the walls keep shifting around you while fire traps punish sloppy footwork. Once you grab the Temple Vault Key and reach the pedestal, though, a wall of rare loot is yours.

Quick answer: Destroy the moving container hidden inside the maze to get the Temple Vault Key, then insert it at the pedestal to open the secret vault door.

Where to find Mega Maze

Mega Maze is an unnamed landmark in the southern half of the map. You’ll find it northeast of Sunken Shores and south of the NE Sanctum area. Glide straight in from the Battle Bus so you can scout the maze layout from above before you land.

Find the Temple Vault Key

The key is locked inside a container that constantly travels through the maze. It’s invisible up close, so the trick is spotting it from a height where you can see the trail it leaves behind as it moves.

Look down at the maze while gliding in, or climb on top of the walls once you land. Watch for the moving trail that marks the container’s path.

The container follows a fixed route, so if you miss it, wait for it to loop back around rather than chasing it randomly. Position yourself ahead of where it’s heading.
When you get close, the container becomes visible and takes the form of a glowing urn. Destroy it and pick up the Temple Vault Key it drops.

Watch out for the maze hazards

The maze fights back while you move through it. Walls dynamically spawn to block paths as you go, so a clear route can close off in front of you. Floor plates trigger fire traps the moment you step on them, which makes rushing dangerous. Move deliberately and keep an eye on the ground.

Tip: There are also code walls scattered in the maze. Solving one rewards a custom Sprite, like the Tails Sprite or the 8-Bit Sprite, if you want extra pickups on the way.

Open the vault with the Temple Vault Key

Head to the pedestal, found up the stairs on the west side of the location. It’s a sun-disc console mounted on a plinth.

Interact with the console to insert the Temple Vault Key. This reveals a secret door on the back wall and opens the vault entrance.
Drop down into the newly opened chamber behind the console. You’ll know it worked because the hidden door slides open and the loot room becomes accessible.

What’s inside the vault

The chests inside are shaped like sarcophagi, and you break them open to release the loot rather than looting them normally. Expect two standard chests and two rare purple chests, along with piles of gold. The haul can include epic weapons, sprites, and Sonic Power Sneakers.

How to escape the vault

Once you’ve cleared the chests, there’s no need to fight your way back out through the maze. A portable toilet inside the vault acts as a portal. Step into it and you’ll be teleported to the south exterior of the maze, well clear of the shifting walls and fire traps.

If you’re still hunting collectibles after grabbing the loot, another code wall near that south exit rewards the 8-Bit Sprite, making the trip out worth a quick detour.
