Once you are in that area, scan the ground clutter instead of the workshop floors. D-O is hidden under a metal slab beside pipes and crates. If you can see that slab and the nearby debris, you are standing on the event set.

You have the right place when the banner is on screen and the droid is visible under the slab. If you only see generic junk with no banner and no D-O model, you are still short of the Sandcrawler cluster.
D-O Event Coming Soon banner
The map posts a large banner that reads D-O Event Coming Soon. It sits over the same crate-and-debris pile you aim at while hunting the hide point. That banner is the cleanest proof the D-O Event is the next named beat on this island, not a random prop drop.
An in-game countdown has appeared with that teaser. No official start date and time is currently confirmed, so treat the banner and the hide point as the live facts, not a calendar listing.
Fused Droids event ending
The D-O tease landed as the Fused Droids event winds down. Fused Droids can still show as an active objective while you walk the map, which is why the island can feel like two events stacked on top of each other for a short stretch.
If that objective is still up, you can approach a droid and use Interact. That prompt belongs to the closing Fused Droids loop. It is not the D-O Event start trigger.
Finding D-O under the slab does not clear Fused Droids, and interacting with a fused droid does not unlock D-O. They are separate map states sharing the same outpost.
Droidex categories for a new event droid
D-O is not a Droidex unlock on the teaser. The collection menu is still where a new event droid would be tracked after it enters the mode. Open Droidex and page through a rarity category such as Beskar to inspect a single entry.
The Droidex splits collected droids into Default, Gold, Diamond, Beskar, Galactic, and Stellar. Until D-O is actually granted, those tabs will not add a D-O card just because you found the slab.
D-O Event start time and rewards
No official start date and time is currently confirmed. The teaser gives you a location, a banner, and an in-game countdown. It does not publish a locked clock time or a reward list.
Rewards, droid rarity, and how long the event stays live are not listed on the banner. If those details matter to your grind, wait for the event flag itself rather than treating the Sandcrawler prop as a completed unlock.
