Steal an Egg Mutations: All Multipliers and How to Get Them

Every mutation multiplier, where each one comes from, and the exact order to stack two on one egg.

In Steal an Egg, mutations have the greatest impact on a pet’s earnings. A mutation applied to an egg or pet boosts its cash per second alongside the pet’s normal rate and size result. As a result, a mutated common may earn more than an unmutated pet of higher rarity, and applying two mutations to one egg can make the grind worthwhile.

Quick answer: To double-mutate, feed one egg the Fractured mutation first (Mutation Consumable, 400 Boss Tokens), then the Scrambled Mutation Item (475 Chemical Bottles), then let it incubate. Both items carry a 10% success chance per use.

Every mutation and its multiplier

A pet’s normal earnings and weight both factor into mutation bonuses, so a large pet with a mutation can reach the highest income. The figures below are based on community testing; use them to compare which mutations rank higher, not as exact guarantees. Check the money/s display for your own pet, since its weight can shift the actual gain by a few points.

MutationMultiplierWhere it comes from
Silver~1.25xWild eggs or Fuse Machine
Bloom~1.5xSakura Incubator
Golden~2xWild eggs or Fuse Machine
Rainbow~2.5xWild eggs or Fuse Machine
Spirit Bloom~3xSakura Incubator

Spirit Bloom’s 3x is the strongest single multiplier in the game, while Rainbow is the highest you can find outside the Sakura Incubator. Fractured and Scrambled are the two event-based mutations used to build a double-mutated pet, covered further down.

Getting Silver, Golden, and Rainbow from wild eggs or the Fuse Machine

Silver, Golden, and Rainbow outcomes are determined entirely by RNG. They can appear on eggs spawned in the biomes or come from the Fuse Machine. You cannot choose which one you get, so seeing a particular result may take many attempts.

A mutated egg has a visible shell difference before you pick it up, so you can notice one from across a biome. Compare the eggs in a nest: a clear change in size or color indicates a mutation. Take it to your base to check and hatch it.

Before the biomes, the Fuse Machine is the only lever you can operate. Put at least three matching pets into it, and it may return that pet carrying a mutation from the trio of standard types. Pets with higher earnings are likelier to mutate, so use your best duplicates.

Fusing pets that have mutations can backfire. If even one pet in the fusion lacks a mutation, the variant is highly likely to disappear. Keep anything with Rainbow or Spirit Bloom safe and out of your fusion materials.

A larger egg may also yield a bigger size roll, so take the largest one you can carry. That improves your chances of getting both a rarer pet and a mutation, adding to the earnings of a pet that already pays more.

Getting Bloom and Spirit Bloom from the Sakura Incubator

Bloom and Spirit Bloom can only be obtained from the Sakura Incubator at the rear of the Cherry Blossom zone, the final biome. This approach lets you choose an egg to mutate, rather than relying on a mutation appearing when an egg hatches.

Reach the Cherry Blossom zone and steal a Crane. The Crane is an Epic pet and the most common hatch there. You need at least 3.5B Speed to escape the zone’s guardian with an egg, so train on the treadmill and rebirth before attempting it.
Carry a Crane to the Sakura Incubator, interact with it, and submit the pet to unlock the machine for good. The Crane’s size and mutations make no difference, so choose your smallest one. You will lose that Crane, but the incubator remains unlocked afterward.
Wait for Great Bloom to begin, then collect Sakura Crystals. It occurs every 30 minutes and lasts around 3 minutes. Once its message appears on screen, equip your baseball bat and break the Sakura trees to gather crystals. Stay in the zone ahead of time so travel doesn’t eat into the brief event.
Place an egg from your inventory into the incubator and deposit crystals until it reaches at least 100% charge, then press Mutate. Charging all the way to 150% (the maximum) improves your odds. The egg must be in your inventory, since hatched pets and eggs already in your pen cannot be mutated.

Bloom vs Spirit Bloom roll chances

At 100% charge or above, an egg can receive one of two results: the common Bloom or the rarer Spirit Bloom. Spirit Bloom has no dedicated item or special egg; repeat the process and leave the outcome to the roll.

MutationMultiplierRoll chance
Bloom~1.5x97.5%
Spirit Bloom~3x2.5%

You can confirm the mutation by the processed egg’s changed appearance and the higher cash rate of the pet after hatching. Spirit Bloom has a 2.5% chance of appearing, so getting it may take multiple attempts.

What you need for a double mutation

Applying two mutations to one egg requires two event items, with the order of use being crucial. Both effects need to go onto that single egg before incubation finishes; the process cannot be divided between two eggs.

  • Mutation Consumable — applies the Fractured mutation, bought from the Boss Shop for 400 Boss Tokens.
  • Scrambled Mutation Item — bought from the Dr. Scramble Experiments Sample Shop for 475 Chemical Bottles.

Boss Tokens come from the Rift Event, a portal that spawns randomly on the map every 30 minutes. Fight the boss during the event to earn tokens. Chemical Bottles come from defeating the Dr. Scramble Drone that also spawns every 30 minutes. Since each mutation item only has a 10% chance to apply per use, farm at least 10 of each, and ideally 10 to 20 Scrambled Mutation Items.

Pick a high-value egg for this method, such as an ArchAngel, World Burner, or Skeletal Sabertooth. A pet with a stronger base rate will turn the two multipliers into much more cash than a low-tier egg.

How to stack Fractured and Scrambled on one egg

Once you have both items and a valuable egg incubating in your pen or garden, the order is fixed: Fractured first, then Scrambled. Confirm each mutation lands before moving on, and do not hatch until both are active.

Pick a high-value egg that is currently incubating. Check that it has enough incubation time left to apply both mutations before it hatches, and make sure you won’t accidentally hatch or replace it mid-process.
Use the Mutation Consumable on the egg to apply Fractured. Each use has a 10% chance, so keep feeding it until you see the Fractured confirmation. If a use fails, the game shows “The consumable fizzled…”.
Keep the egg unhatched. After Fractured is active, apply the Scrambled Mutation Item to that egg. Each use also has a 10% chance, so keep trying until the Scrambled confirmation appears.
Let the egg finish incubating normally. Do not try to hatch it early or interfere with the timer. When it finishes, hatch it and check the pet.

The single biggest mistake is applying the two items to different eggs. Both effects must land on the same egg, with Fractured going first.

How to confirm the double mutation worked

You know it succeeded when the hatched pet carries a combined name, such as Golden + Fractured Gorilla King or Fractured + Scrambled Night Flame, along with a much higher money/s card. In practice, a strong double-mutated pet can reach around $25B per second, though the exact figure depends on the base pet and the mutations it ends up with.

Because a mutation is a multiplier, its payoff scales with the pet you attach it to. Save Rainbow, Spirit Bloom, and any double mutation for your highest money/s pets, ideally on a large-weight roll where the mutation and size boosts compound. That combination is where your base income actually spikes.
