Grow a Chicken Fighter: How to Get the Catalyst Hen

The Catalyst Hen is a Secret rarity fighter in Grow a Chicken Fighter that only comes out of the Colossus Egg. It hatches at a rate below 1%, which makes it one of the rarest pulls in the game and a strong pick for both the Arena and the Tower.

Colossus Egg hatch rates

The Colossus Egg is the only source of the Catalyst Hen. Six chickens can hatch from it, and the Catalyst Hen sits at the very bottom of the odds. Here is the full drop table.

How to reach the Colossus Egg

You cannot buy Colossus Eggs directly. They come from the Founder Rooster, and getting to a Founder Rooster is a chain that starts with the common Nest Egg. Follow this order and each rooster or chick you unlock speeds up the next stage.

Hatch Nest Eggs and aim for a Viking Rooster. These eggs are among the easiest to get, and the Viking Rooster appears at a 2% chance.

Put the Viking Rooster to work farming Thunder Eggs. It hatches Thunder Eggs at a 70% chance, the highest of any early chicken, so it fills your egg pool quickly.

Hatch those Thunder Eggs to pull a Static Chick. The Static Chick is Common and drops at 14%, so it usually does not take long.

Deploy the Static Chick in your coop. It guarantees a 100% Thunder Egg hatch rate, which gives you a reliable stream of Thunder Eggs for the next stage.

Keep hatching Thunder Eggs until you land a Founder Rooster. It is Legendary and only drops at 3%, so this is the slowest part of the chain.

Use the Founder Rooster to produce Colossus Eggs, then hatch them until the Catalyst Hen appears at its below 1% rate.

You know it worked when a Catalyst Hen shows up in your Flock. Because the odds are so low, expect to burn through a large stack of Colossus Eggs before it lands, so keep the Founder Rooster generating eggs the whole time.

The Catalyst Hen comes in a normal form and an Inverted form. The Inverted version carries higher numbers across the board, which is why players chase it. These are the base stats before any levelling or fusion bonuses.

How the Inverted mutation works

The Inverted mutation raises HP and Attack by 15% and Speed and Power by 5% over the normal form. Every egg in the game has a flat 0.5% chance to hatch a chicken with this mutation, so pulling an Inverted Catalyst Hen straight from a Colossus Egg is extremely rare.

There is a second route through fusion. If you fuse your main chicken with one that already has the Inverted mutation, the main chicken can pick it up. When both chickens are the same tier, the success rate is 50%. A one-tier, two-tier, or three-plus-tier gap between them lowers that chance, so match tiers when you can.

Where the Catalyst Hen ranks

In its base form the Catalyst Hen outperforms both the Kraken Chicken and the Storm Colossus, and it sits just under the Eclipse Hen. That places it firmly in the top four fighters alongside those three, and it is a solid anchor for an Arena team.

Compared with the Eclipse Hen, the Catalyst Hen is generally easier to obtain. The Eclipse Hen requires Ascension Eggs, which you earn at Rebirth milestones starting at 10 Rebirths, then 100, 250, and 500 Rebirths, with a smaller chance to appear during Admin Abuse events. The Catalyst Hen only asks for a long run of Colossus Egg hatches, so once your Founder Rooster is set up, it is mostly a matter of keeping the eggs coming until the sub-1% pull finally lands.
