The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt currently has three separate pieces of free content on the table, and each one is claimed a little differently. Two are ready to download today, and the third is a full upgrade that unlocks for every owner later in September.
Quick answer: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are free on every platform right now, the 2016 Video Game Show Witcher 3 concert is free on GOG until August 27, and the Remastered upgrade lands at no cost for all owners on September 29.
The Witcher 3 free downloads available now
CD Projekt Red dropped the price of both major expansions to zero. Blood and Wine, which previously cost $14.99, and Hearts of Stone, previously $9.99, are now free on all platforms. If you own the base game and never picked these up, they add well over 40 hours of content between them.
The third free item right now is different. GOG is running a limited-time giveaway for the Video Game Show: The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Concert 2016, a 90-minute recording of the game’s original scores, including tracks like “The Hunt Is Coming” and “Ladies of the Woods.” Unlike the expansions, the concert does not require owning the base game, but the offer ends soon.
| Free item | Where to get it | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Blood and Wine expansion | All platforms | Free from now on |
| Hearts of Stone expansion | All platforms | Free from now on |
| Witcher 3 Concert (2016) | GOG storefront | August 27 |
The expansions are expected to stay free going forward, so there is no rush there. The concert giveaway is the time-sensitive one, closing on August 27.

You will know it worked when the expansion content installs and the new quest lines become available inside the game. Hearts of Stone begins with a new questline, while Blood and Wine opens up the separate region of Toussaint with its own map and story.
The Witcher 3 Remastered upgrade arrives September 29
The largest freebie is the one you cannot download yet. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is a free upgrade for every existing owner on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It lands on September 29 and applies automatically, so you do not need to buy anything.
The upgrade also bundles both expansions. Any base game owner who did not already have Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine receives them as part of the Remastered package, which lines up with the price drops already in effect.
Note: No specific launch time or timezone has been confirmed for the September 29 release, only the date.

Songs of the Past is not part of the free content
Do not confuse any of these freebies with Songs of the Past, the third Witcher 3 expansion currently scheduled for 2027. That is a separate paid expansion and is not included in the Remastered upgrade or the current giveaways. The free content covers the two existing expansions, the concert, and the Remastered version itself.
If you already own the base game, the practical move is simple. Grab the concert on GOG before August 27, add the two expansions whenever you like, and let the Remastered upgrade install itself on September 29.
