The Hemolytic Injector is Grace Ashcroft’s cleanest way through the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center. It is a syringe of a drug that ruptures infected blood cells, and it does two useful things at once. Injected into an unaware or staggered enemy, it kills instantly and quietly. Injected into a downed corpse, it stops that body from later mutating into a Blister Head.
Quick answer: Crouch, sneak directly behind an enemy that has not noticed you (or one you have already staggered), and press the prompted melee button to inject. Grace kills it on the spot with no noise.
What the Hemolytic Injector does
The in-game description reads: “A special drug that destroys infected blood cells. Prevents corpses from mutating and can be used to stealthily take out enemies.” In practice, a regular infected that gets injected convulses and combusts, so there is no body left to reanimate. That is why it doubles as a way to stop future Blister Heads from spawning in rooms you keep passing through.
The item is exclusive to Grace. It works on most enemies, including Lickers taken from behind, but it will not one-shot the largest foes. The obese Chunk in the East Wing needs three injectors to go down if you have not already worn it down another way.

Add to Google Preferences →Where to find the first Hemolytic Injector
You pick up your first one for free inside the Examination Room, on the first floor of the Care Center’s East Wing. You need the East Wing Keycard to reach it. Cross the body lying on the bed and grab the injector from the bench or table beside the sink before you deal with the doctor zombie and the second one that stands up nearby.

That first pickup only exists once. Everything after it comes from crafting, so treat the free one as a chance to learn the timing rather than a resource to hoard.
How to craft more injectors
Each Hemolytic Injector costs one Scrap plus 60 Infected Blood. Before you can build them, analyze the purple Blood Sample vial at the Blood Lab in the East Wing to unlock the recipe. After that, you craft directly from the menu whenever you have the materials.
| Material | Amount | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Scrap | 1 | Found around the Care Center, including the Waiting Room and adjacent Closet |
| Infected Blood | 60 | Drawn from blood pools and buckets using the Blood Collector |
The Blood Collector is Anthony Richardson’s custom-ordered tool, and it is what turns the environment’s blood into the 60 units each injector needs.

Scrap is the tighter constraint of the two. You can gather it as you explore, and the Waiting Room together with its neighboring Closet are reliable early spots.

How to use it for a stealth kill
The injector only produces an instant kill when the target cannot fight back. That means one of two states: the enemy has not noticed you, or you have already staggered it. Approach from behind and watch for the melee prompt to appear.
You know it worked when the target violently convulses and burns away, leaving nothing behind to reanimate. No alarm spreads to nearby enemies, which is the whole point of using it over a loud kill.
Note: If no prompt appears, the enemy has spotted you and is not staggered. Break line of sight or stagger it before trying again. On a downed but still-present body, the same injection prevents it from turning into a Blister Head.
Best target: the Chef and the Pantry Key
The standout use for an injector is the Chef. Killing him drops the Pantry Key, described as “A key with a tag that says ‘Pantry.’ It’s sticky to the touch.” He patrols a fixed loop through the Kitchen, Parlor, Dining Room, and Cold Storage, so you can time an approach instead of fighting him head-on.

When to save your injectors
Because 60 Infected Blood and a Scrap add up quickly, spend injectors where the payoff is clear rather than on every wandering zombie. Silent removals like the Chef, and enemies you genuinely cannot beat another way, are the strongest use. Keep in mind the size limit: the biggest foes shrug off a single dose, and the Chunk needs three injectors unless you soften it up first.
Used with a little patience, a single syringe clears a threat, keeps a room quiet, and stops a corpse from coming back as something worse. That combination is what makes it worth carrying through the Care Center.
