Where Winds Meet: How to Complete Scarab’s Rebirth in Mirkvale

Scarab’s Rebirth is a Wandering Tale in the Mirkvale area of the Hidden Mountain in Where Winds Meet. It starts with a boy named Xiaofang, who is waiting for his mechanical wooden scarab, Little Flower, to come home. The quest is short, but the ending you get depends on one choice you make after recovering the scarab.

Quick answer: Talk to Xiaofang southwest of the Starseek Trail Boundary Stone, take the Battered Wooden Scarab from the Qiongqi Artificer camp on the western border of Heaven’s Threshold, then either return it to Xiaofang (Ending 1) or bring it to Xiaoba in Mirkvale to repair it (Ending 2, which grants the extra Wooden Scarab – Little Flower item).

Where to start Scarab’s Rebirth

The quest sits near the northern rim of Mirkvale in the Hidden Mountain. You can also open the tale directly from the map under Exploration and its Sentient Beings entries, then fast travel to the closest point.

Teleport to the Starseek Trail Boundary Stone. From the landmark, follow the intersected path to the southwest until you spot Xiaofang sitting on the rocks at the crossroads.

Talk to Xiaofang to begin the tale. He explains that Little Flower, his wooden scarab, has not come back, which adds the quest to your log and points you toward its location.

Recover the Battered Wooden Scarab from the camp

Little Flower is held at a Qiongqi Artificer camp near the westernmost border of Heaven’s Threshold. Set a waypoint on the marker and head there through the forest.

Travel west to the marked camp. You can glide and sprint across the wooded ground to reach it quickly.

Clear or slip past the artificers. You do not have to defeat every enemy in the camp, but clearing them lets you loot without pressure. Grab any spare loot in the area while you are there.

Pick up the Battered Wooden Scarab. Little Flower’s damaged body lies on the ground in the camp; interact with the Pick Up prompt to add it to your bag. Your quest log then updates with the next step.

Choose your ending

Once you hold the battered scarab, the tale splits. You can return it as-is to Xiaofang, or take it to Xiaoba to be repaired first. Only the second path gives the bonus item, so pick carefully if you want everything.

Ending 1: Return the scarab to Xiaofang

Fast travel back to Starseek Trail and go down the slope to Xiaofang. Talk to him, choose Give, and hand over the Battered Wooden Scarab to finish the tale.

Ending 2: Let Xiaoba repair Little Flower

Teleport to the Unitide Terrace Boundary Stone in Mirkvale, the site of the Diversion Complex from the Mirkvale Campaign. Head to the upper floor to find Xiaoba.

Give Xiaoba the battered scarab. After you explain Xiaofang’s situation, he repairs Little Flower and adds it to your bag.

Return to Xiaofang, open your bag, and use the repaired Little Flower. This transforms you into the scarab.

Interact with Xiaofang while transformed. He genuinely mistakes you for his scarab, and the scene resolves the tale. Note that you can keep using Little Flower from your bag to transform later, but the effect only works within the Hidden Mountain.

Completing the tale grants the reward set below. The Wooden Scarab – Little Flower is exclusive to Ending 2, where you let Xiaoba fix the scarab.

How to confirm the quest is complete

You know the tale is done when the notification “Wandering Tales: Scarab’s Rebirth Ending Unlocked” appears and the rewards drop into your inventory. The entry in the Wandering Tales list also flips to Completed. If it does not trigger, make sure you actually handed the scarab over through the Give option rather than only speaking to Xiaofang, and for Ending 2 confirm you used the repaired Little Flower from your bag before interacting with him.
