A rundown of the new mountain region, Mohist Hill sect, Gauntlets weapon, mechanical bosses, and the story leads arriving in Version 2.0.

Version 2.0 pushes Where Winds Meet up into the peaks with Hidden Mountain, a free expansion built around a vertical open world, a new engineering-focused sect, and a fresh close-quarters weapon. It follows the earlier Imperial Palace and Hexi updates and adds a full region called Bujian Mountain, a “living city of mechanisms” run by the Mohist Hill.

Quick answer: Hidden Mountain is the Version 2.0 expansion for Where Winds Meet, set to release in July 2026. It adds the Bujian Mountain region, the Mohist Hill sect, vertical exploration, the Gauntlets weapon, a new Changeless Heart campaign, and several mechanical bosses.

Where Winds Meet 2.0 release window

Hidden Mountain was announced on June 8, 2026, alongside the Xbox release of Where Winds Meet. Everstone Studio confirmed a July 2026 release window at that time. An exact launch date and time have not been confirmed, so treat any specific day floating around as unofficial until the developers publish it.

Note: Like Imperial Palace and Hexi before it, Hidden Mountain is a free expansion, not a paid add-on.

Bujian Mountain and the Mohist Hill sect

The expansion is set on Bujian Mountain, a layered region hidden deep within the peaks. It is so large that you cannot see its full shape even while standing inside it, which is where the name Hidden Mountain comes from. The design leans on three core elements, stone, light, and wind, and draws its theme from ancient sages chasing truth and wisdom, a contrast to Hexi’s focus on painting and poetry.

Running the mountain is the Mohist Hill, a sect famous for building intricate machines. These characters behave like engineers, running experiments, logging breakthroughs, and treating sect life as academic work. The main storyline centers on this faction and the secrets of the mountain, along with new martial arts and mechanics tied to their inventions.

Vertical exploration, ziplines, and Celestial Seize

Instead of a mostly flat world, Hidden Mountain is built around movement between altitudes. You climb across different elevations and uncover hidden paths and viewpoints, with each height offering a distinct landscape. Wind and lighting physics have been reworked across major scenes, so gusts visibly push clothing and leaves as you travel.

Traversal gets faster thanks to mechanical ziplines scattered across the Mohist city, letting you glide long distances rather than walking. The region is packed with mechanisms you can operate from a distance. The Mystic Skill Celestial Seize receives a large upgrade here, using an F Throw and F Link chain to grab objects remotely, such as pulling a heavy urn across a room and throwing it to break structures, and to solve mechanism puzzles.

Gauntlets and the Hand Guard Discipline

Hidden Mountain adds the Gauntlets, a heavy-hitting weapon built for close-quarters brawling. Its combo system chains one strike into the next, rewarding you for keeping a steady rhythm once a fight gets going. Expect fast, in-your-face melee rather than ranged play.

The update also introduces a combat discipline called Hand Guard Discipline. It emphasizes quick movement and defense, built around dodging attacks and landing counters at the right moment for a faster, more reactive fighting style.

New bosses and the Changeless Heart campaign

A new campaign called Changeless Heart takes you into an underwater hall of gears crawling with mechanical puppets. It guards some of the Mohist Hill’s deepest secrets and asks for both puzzle-solving and combat. Beyond the campaign, the open world is stocked with mechanical enemies, Oddities that take real effort to catch, and wildlife such as macaques, wild boars, and Dalmatian pelicans.

Swallow, the Haven, and the story

The narrative revolves around Swallow, the new Grandmaster of the Mohist Hill, shown using a mechanical wheelchair and regarded as the sect’s greatest prodigy. Three years earlier, the Mohist Hill secretly built a power source meant to keep the Skyward City airborne, but the plan failed and the city fell. That event still drives the plot.

Two rival factions have been circling the mountain for years and are edging toward open war over a location called the Haven, with one side wanting to negotiate and the other wanting to force its way in. You also pick up leads on old friends, including Aunt Han, and rumors of legendary mechanical weapons stashed on the mountain. Familiar faces join you this time rather than leaving you to explore alone, and the outcome of the conflict is framed as something your choices help decide.

With a full vertical region, the Mohist Hill, the Gauntlets, and a roster of mechanical bosses, Version 2.0 is the biggest content drop for Where Winds Meet since Hexi, and returning players will want to be caught up on gear and skills before Bujian Mountain opens.
