The Klombo Sprite is one of the odder Mythic Sprites in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, mostly because it refuses to progress the way every other Sprite does. Opening chests, cracking ammo boxes and racking up eliminations does nothing for it. Its level bar moves only when you actually eat or drink something that restores health or shield, which is why plenty of players assume it is bugged after an entire match at Level 1.
Quick answer: Equip the Klombo Sprite, put yourself at low health, then drink or eat healing items back to back. Each successful heal fires a “CONSUMABLE CONSUMED” XP popup. The fastest repeatable loop is standing in the fire pit at the top of the Stone Sanctum monument while chaining Chug Jugs bought from a Special-O-Matic vending machine.
What counts as Klombo Sprite XP
The rule is stricter than “use a healing item.” XP is awarded for health or shield that is actually restored. Consume something while you are already topped up and you get nothing, which is why the whole method depends on taking damage first.
| Consumable | Sprite XP |
|---|---|
| Small Shield Potion | +50 per drink |
| Big Shield Potion | Awards XP, scaled to shield restored |
| Chug Jug | Awards XP for both health and shield restored |
| Jellyfish (40 health/shield) | +20 |
| Apples and other foraged food | +30 per apple (+15 health) |
| Fish eaten at full health and shield | None |
| Chests, ammo boxes, eliminations | None |
Foraged items all count as consumables, so chili peppers, red apples, bananas, coconuts and exotic golden apples are worth grabbing off the floor and out of produce boxes when you are missing health. Med Kits are the frustrating exception. Multiple runs show a Med Kit healing from 1 HP to 100 HP without registering any Sprite XP at all, and shield splashes and Slurp trucks have behaved the same way. Treat potions, Chug Jugs and food as your reliable sources.

Because the level thresholds are steep, scavenging shields around the map is far too slow. Buying a stack of Legendary Chug Jugs and burning through them in a fixed damage source is the efficient version.

Tip: this loop works because the damage is predictable. If you would rather not commit to the monument, a small ledge that deals fall damage does the same job on a smaller scale, just with more running back and forth.
Using storm damage instead, and the storm sickness risk
Sitting on the edge of the storm circle is the other common damage source, and it pairs well with Chug Jugs because it drains both health and shield. It is also where the most Klombo Sprites die.
Storm sickness sets in if you linger too long, and it kills outright rather than ticking you down. Players have lost Sprites at Level 4.5 and above while sitting at full health and shield immediately after a Chug Jug, including at extraction sites. If you use the storm, set yourself a hard limit and get out well before the timer becomes an issue. The fire pit does not carry that risk.
The Adventure Sprite shortcut
The Adventure Sprite upgrades a random eligible item in your inventory every time it levels. If the Klombo Sprite is sitting in your inventory as the only valid target, those upgrades land on Klombo instead of a weapon.
To set it up, equip the Adventure Sprite, carry the Klombo Sprite as an inventory item, and strip out anything else that can be upgraded. Healing items and shields are safe to keep since they are not upgrade targets. Then level the Adventure Sprite normally, ideally emptying your inventory just before opening a chest so the upgrade has nowhere else to go. Each Adventure level pushes Klombo up with it.
Epic has not said whether this interaction is intended, and players have already reported the method feeling weaker after a nerf to the Adventure Sprite. It is worth trying, but do not build your plan around it lasting.
Double XP sources worth stacking
Healing at a campfire grants 2x Sprite Mastery Points for the rest of that match, so it is worth doing a single heal at one before you start the loop. Mastery Monday doubles Sprite bonuses too, and running the fire pit method during one of those windows roughly halves the number of Chug Jugs you need.
How to confirm it worked, and how to master the Sprite
Every valid heal shows a “CONSUMABLE CONSUMED” XP notification, and each threshold crossed pops a “LEVEL UP!” banner with the Sprite’s new level. Open your inventory and check the Klombo Sprite tooltip if you want to verify the number directly, since each level also drops a random item and the quality of those items rises as the level climbs.
Reaching Level 5 is only half of it. Mastering the Sprite requires extracting it while it is at Level 5, either at an Extraction Site or with a Portable Extractor you are carrying. A successful extraction also pays out Sprite Dust, with a Level 5 Klombo run returning over 1,300 Dust.
Why the Klombo Sprite is not leveling up
- You are looting instead of consuming. Chests and ammo boxes give this Sprite nothing.
- You are already at full health and shield, so the item restores nothing and awards nothing.
- You are relying on Med Kits, shield splashes or Slurp trucks, which have not been registering XP.
- The Sprite is in your inventory but not equipped while you heal.
- You died in the storm before extracting, which loses the Sprite and all its progress.
Klombo is a Mythic Sprite with no guaranteed spawn location, so a run that ends in a storm death is expensive to replace. Once you have one, treat the match as a farming run rather than a fight: bank the gold, buy the Chug Jugs, sit in the fire, and get to an extractor while the timer is still comfortable.
