Summer Siege, the Update 2 patch for Anime Expeditions, added nine units, and none of them come from the standard banner. Each one is locked behind a specific event track: an event stage, a crafted portal, a capsule shop, a bingo board, or the Season 2 Battlepass. Knowing which track owns which unit is the difference between a focused grind and wasting Sand Dollars on the wrong screen.
Quick answer: Farm the Tidal Siege Event Gamemode (Coral Kingdom) for Sharkfang (Abyssal) and Sand Dollars, spend 100 Sand Dollars per Summer Capsule in the Summer Shop for Water Mage, Sand, Rainman, and Head Captain, craft Sovereign’s Portal from four Djinn’s Treasures for Sovereign (Djinn), clear Board #1 in Kitsune Bingo for Kitsune, and reach level 50 of the Season 2 Battlepass for Jester.
Every Summer Siege unit and where it drops
Nine units arrived with the update. Four share a single capsule, two are tied to event progression tracks, and the rest each have their own source.
| Unit | Source |
|---|---|
| Sharkfang (Abyssal) | Tidal Siege Event Mode (Coral Kingdom) |
| Sovereign (Djinn) | Sovereign’s Portal, 2% chance for non-hosts |
| Water Mage (Scholar) | Summer Capsule, 15% |
| Sand (Alligator) | Summer Capsule, 3.5% |
| Rainman (Forecast) | Summer Capsule, 1.5% |
| Head Captain (Char) | Summer Capsule, 0.25% |
| Kitsune | Kitsune Bingo, Clear Board #1 |
| Jester | Season 2 Battlepass, level 50 |
| Lightning God (Overcharged) | Secret unit tied to Infinite Rose Kingdom – Act 1 |

Add to Google Preferences →Start with the Tidal Siege event mode for Sharkfang and Sand Dollars
Everything else in the update is paid for with time spent here. The Tidal Siege event stage drops Sharkfang (Abyssal) as a reward and pays out Sand Dollars, the currency the Summer Shop runs on. There is no alternative income source for Sand Dollars, so this loop is the backbone of the whole event.

Note: Sand Dollars only spend inside the Summer Shop. They do not convert into gems or banner pulls, so there is no reason to hoard them past the end of the event.
Summer Capsule drop rates and how many to buy
Four of the nine units share one capsule, and the rates are steep at the top end. A Summer Capsule costs 100 Sand Dollars, which means 2,100 Sand Dollars buys 21 pulls. That is a reasonable target for Water Mage, but Head Captain at 0.25% is a long-tail chase.
| Capsule unit | Rate | Realistic expectation |
|---|---|---|
| Water Mage (Scholar) | 15% | Common in a modest batch of pulls |
| Sand (Alligator) | 3.5% | Needs sustained event farming |
| Rainman (Forecast) | 1.5% | Needs sustained event farming |
| Head Captain (Char) | 0.25% | Longest chase in the capsule |
Open the Summer Shop from inside the Tidal Siege event panel. The capsule is listed there with its cost and full rate breakdown, so you can confirm the numbers before committing currency.

How to craft Sovereign’s Portal for Sovereign (Djinn)
Sovereign is the secret unit of the update, and it is not a straight drop from the event stage. You build up through the Summer Portal tiers, collect a specific material, then craft the portal that actually holds the unit.

Sovereign switches between a Lightning Djinn and a Nine Tailed Fox Djinn state depending on whether a boss is inside its range, chaining lightning against regular waves and applying Freeze plus a 50% damage increase against bosses. That boss-targeting behavior is what makes the crafting grind worth the gems.
Kitsune Bingo: Clear Board #1 for the Kitsune unit
Kitsune is an exclusive unit with a single fixed unlock condition. Open the Kitsune Bingo screen from the events list and work through the objectives on the first board. The reward attached to the Clear Board #1 quest is the Kitsune unit itself, so there is no random roll involved.
You will know it worked when the board registers as complete and Kitsune appears in your unit index. As a support piece, it buffs the strongest unit in range with a 25% SPA reduction and 25% attack speed increase, and at a full Showtime Meter it raises every in-range unit’s damage by 35% for 30 seconds.
Jester at Season 2 Battlepass level 50
Jester sits at the top of the Season 2 Battlepass track. Scroll to level 50 in the Battlepass menu and the exclusive unit is listed as the reward. There is no shop or capsule shortcut, so the only lever you control is how fast you push pass levels before the season ends.
The unit rotates between a Scythe, Rifle, and Mace at the start of each wave or every 20 seconds. Rolling the same weapon twice in a row triggers Bored Jester, which cuts five seconds off the roll timer, adds 25% damage to the current weapon, and blocks that weapon from rolling again.
Lightning God (Overcharged)
The other secret unit in the update is tied to Infinite Rose Kingdom – Act 1 rather than the Tidal Siege event track. It builds a Voltage Meter that climbs by one every time Electricity triggers a stun, up to 60 stacks, with each point adding 5% Electricity damage. Storm Cloud unlocks at 25 stacks and a full Lightning Strike discharge fires at 60.
Funding the grind: gems for Summer Portal tiers
Only the portal chain costs gems, and Tier 1 alone is 1,000. If your balance is thin, the fastest refill is the Regular and Daily Challenge loop, which pays 1,000 gems per clear on weekdays and 2,000 on weekends, capped at 10 clears a day and refreshing roughly every 20 to 30 minutes. Story first-clears are the other large bank, at 300 gems per Normal act and 400 per Hard act across 25 acts.
Once challenges are capped, repeat Hard Story clears sit around 2,483 gems per hour, and Infinity Mode reaches roughly 3,000 per hour if your team survives past the 20-minute mark. The AFK Chamber runs a completed stage at 1.5x your best clear time and pays full rewards, which is worth leaving on while you are away.
The fastest order to unlock everything
Lead with the Tidal Siege stage, since it hands you Sharkfang and funds every capsule pull at the same time. Claim Kitsune from Board #1 early because it is a guaranteed unlock with no rate attached, and let Battlepass levels accumulate passively toward Jester while you farm. Save the gem-heavy portal chain for last, after your event grind has already settled the four capsule units.
The one thing worth watching is your Sand Dollar spend. Head Captain at 0.25% will eat far more capsules than the other three combined, so treat it as the closing target rather than the reason you started pulling.
