GTA 6 Leaks: Everything We Know Before the November 2026 Release

A running record of the biggest GTA 6 leaks and which details Rockstar has since confirmed.

A running record of the biggest GTA 6 leaks and which details Rockstar has since confirmed.

Grand Theft Auto VI has spilled onto the internet in pieces for years, long before its November 2026 release. A massive 2022 hack started it, and a fresh batch of gameplay footage arrived in August 2026, right before Rockstar’s own Extended Look. Between those two events, a steady trickle of maps, domains, animation reels, and office photos has revealed a lot about the game’s world, characters, and mechanics.

Quick answer: The most reliable confirmed details are the ones Rockstar showed itself. The six-star wanted level, character switching between Jason and Lucia, physical progression, and in-game basketball all appeared in the August 27 Extended Look after showing up in leaks first. Everything from older development builds should be treated as tentative, since features can change before launch.

Every major GTA 6 leak, in order

The game’s development has leaked in several distinct waves, each exposing a different layer of the project. Here is how they line up.

WhenWhat leaked
September 2022The Lapsus$ hack. A 17-year-old breached Rockstar’s networks and posted more than 90 files to GTAForums, including hours of raw debugging footage. Rockstar acknowledged the breach the next day.
December 2023Panning map footage surfaced on TikTok, reportedly from the relative of a Rockstar North executive. Days later, a low-quality Trailer 1 leaked on X with a “BUY $BTC” watermark, pushing Rockstar to release the official trailer early.
January 2025A briefly shared Google Drive folder held a photo of an office monitor showing Lucia in a construction area near a silage bunker, with a PlayStation 5 dev kit on the desk.
September 2025Dataminers found a batch of freshly registered domains under Take-Two Interactive’s nameservers, exposing the game’s satirical in-universe internet.
November 2025A demo reel from a former Rockstar Toronto animator appeared on Vimeo, showing animation tests of a character using a “LomBike” at a bike-share station.
August 2026New gameplay footage from a much newer build leaked shortly before the Extended Look, showing Jason in a wide range of activities and revealing several new mechanics.

The August 2026 batch is the most valuable because it came from a recent build. It showed Jason playing basketball, fighting, stealing cars, using a taser, flying planes, visiting a strip club, and getting chased by police. Other clips featured Vice City Beach, a nudist resort, the NINE1NINE nightclub, and a game store across Leonida. A separate clip of Lucia’s prologue surfaced on August 26.

What Rockstar has confirmed from the leaks

The August 27 Extended Look landed just days after the newest footage leaked, so the wait to verify the biggest discoveries was short. Rockstar’s official video reused several mechanics that had already appeared in the leaked build.

FeatureStatus
Six-star wanted levelConfirmed in the Extended Look. Police also pay closer attention to appearance, clothing, and vehicles.
Character switching (Jason and Lucia)Confirmed. The pair can work together or split up and be swapped between while apart.
Physical progressionConfirmed. Exercise and eating change how the characters look. Lucia was shown working out at a gym.
In-game basketballConfirmed. Basketball appeared in both the leaks and official footage.
Inventory and vehicle systemsNot yet confirmed. Seen in leaked builds but absent from official footage.

When Rockstar has shown something itself, the Extended Look is the source to trust. Older development footage carries no guarantee that a feature survives to the final game.

The map of Leonida

Coordinate metadata, debug menus, leaked footage, and in-game signage point to a map that stretches well past Vice City into surrounding counties, islands, and swamps. The Extended Look filled in what many of these areas actually look like.

RegionDetails
Vice-Dale CountyThe main metropolitan area holding Vice City. Includes the Malibu Club, Ocean View Hotel, and Boardwalk Hotel.
Port GellhornA separate secondary city with its own police force (PGPD), heavily featured in the 2022 test footage.
Kelly CountyIdentified through street signs and development data.
Leonard CountyIdentified through street signs and development data.
Mariana CountyIdentified through street signs and development data.
Ambrosia CountyIdentified through world data, signage, and other leaked material.
Leonida KeysThe southern island region where Jason lives and works as a drug runner. Shown extensively in official footage.
Mount Kalaga National ParkA large wilderness area shown officially alongside the state’s rural environments.
Vice City BeachA major beachfront shown in both the August leaks and the Extended Look, with big crowds and activities.
NINE1NINEA nightclub seen in the August 2026 footage.
Nudist resortA naturist resort from an August leak, with a pool, sauna, and many NPCs.

The leaked map images showed a large Leonida with Vice City ringed by rural land, waterways, islands, and small towns. Still, development footage does not always match the final world, so the exact leaked map deserves caution.

Characters and factions

Source code and debug text exposed names for the protagonists, side characters, and local groups. The Extended Look then introduced several of the people Jason and Lucia will deal with directly.

  • Protagonists: Lucia and Jason. Code menus showed “Pragmatic,” “Cool,” and “Romantic” relationship states between them.
  • Associates: Debug text named contacts including Billy Tit, Zach RB Shaw, Vicky, Iris, Shanese, Boobie, Danny, Chester, and Dale.
  • Factions: The world event data mentioned the “Guardia Brothers,” labeled in code as a far-right militia.
  • Confirmed in the Extended Look: Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, Real Dimez, Raul Bautista, and Brian Heder.

The official footage also stressed how tightly Jason and Lucia are linked. They can run missions together or break off to do their own things before meeting back up.

Gameplay, inventory, and stealing cars

The 2022 builds showed Rockstar testing a more physical inventory system and a set of tools for stealing and tracking vehicles, drawing quick comparisons to Red Dead Redemption 2. The August footage suggests those ideas are still alive.

Car theft and vehicle systems

Players no longer open every car door by magic. Older cars can be opened with a Slim Jim, while newer vehicles needed an Immobilizer Bypass PDA. The footage also showed a Tracker Jammer for blocking a stolen car’s GPS signal and an Auto Dialer.

Some vehicles can be tracked, and the HUD can display fuel and engine condition. Jason was seen filling up at a gas station, though it is unclear whether every vehicle needs refueling. Vehicles also appear to have their own storage and loadout options.

Inventory and looting

Characters were shown carrying Duffle Bags while collecting loot, which hints at more limited inventory space than past GTA games. You can swap items dynamically between Jason and Lucia, and weapons can be dropped or picked up off the ground instead of living in an endless weapon wheel. The newer footage also showed dedicated slots for items like Zombix pills and an EpiPen.

Weapons and the Focus stat

Debug menus showed tactical gear like the Speargun, Polymer Pistol, Flashbangs, and Smoke Grenades, alongside activity-themed melee weapons such as a Pool Cue, Baseball Bat, and a full set of Golf Clubs (Driver, Putter, Iron, and Wedge). The August footage added a taser and more contextual melee combat.

One of the stranger finds was a Focus stat that Jason could raise by playing basketball. That suggests everyday activities around Leonida may shape the protagonists rather than just filling time.

Wanted level and activities

The wanted system brings back the six-star maximum from older GTA games, later confirmed officially. Police also watch what Jason and Lucia look like, what they wear, and what they drive, which could make escapes harder. Outside missions, Rockstar has shown fishing, pool, gym workouts, scuba diving, kayaking, boating, jet skiing, and racing.

Leonida’s parody websites

The 2022 UI footage and later domain discoveries revealed a set of in-universe websites and apps expected to appear in the game.

DomainWhat it parodies
what-up.appThe in-game version of WhatsApp, seen in the 2022 UI leaks.
rydeme.appLeonida’s ride-sharing app, in the style of Uber or Lyft.
buckme.appA likely parody of Venmo or CashApp, pointing to money transfers.
brianandbradley.comA direct parody of the Florida personal injury firm Morgan & Morgan.
hookers-galore.comEither an OnlyFans parody or a fishing supply store, depending on how it plays out.
leonidagov.orgThe state government portal.
wipeoutcornskin.com / myboyhasacreepycorndog.comClassic bizarre Rockstar filler sites.

How to read the leaks

The safest rule is simple. Details Rockstar has shown in official footage are dependable. Everything from older development builds is provisional, because GTA 6 has been in the works for years and features can be reworked or cut. The August 2026 footage offers a much fresher look than the 2022 material, but it is still a development build, not the finished game.

Even with that caution, the leaks have given an unusually clear picture of Leonida, its cast, and its systems well ahead of launch. As more credible details surface, this record will keep expanding.
